Guest guest
So 5 days ago we started my daughter on Valtrex at 250 mg twice a day. First day we only gave 1/2 the dosage but after went to the full dosage because it's so hard to split the pill four ways I didn't notice anything different at all on the first day..morning of the second day she woke up with a cracked bottom lip and a very lite rash on her face and that's it. No fever..her behavior is about the same..although we noticed that she isn't mouthing as much. Her stools are the same. I'm getting scared does it mean that it isn't working for her...Stan said that the regression period for his kid started on day 3 and lasted 21 days right? I just want this so bad to work..she only babbles and has no clear words. Her eye contact is here and there and will come by us throughout the day on her terms. Her language and social skills at this point are our biggest battles. anyone have any advise? Guest guest
My son did not get any rashes until about 30 days on valtrex. Go back and reread Stans paper. I think the majority of kids do not get a rash and it can take a good 2 months or longer before you may see anything. A good 6 month trial is generally needed before deciding if it helps or not. There are also many other treatments out there to try. Guest guest
, Thanks for the reply :0) I looked under the FAQ under the database and found Stans responds to some question this is what I found " After the second day he seemed to have cold/flu like symptoms, he became more irritable, more stiming, less active (some children become more active/hyper), less eye contact, a rash broke out on his face and moved slowly to his stomach, and then he even smeared poop from his diaper on our wall in the third week (I've heard of this with a couple other families as well). This lasted for 21 days followed my really significant developmental gains. " So I'm thinking that it should be within a few days that I am seeing some kind of changes...her dan has her on it for 3 months so ya we have time for it to do the job but I guess after reading about Stan's son and I have also read from other mom's that they noticed the differences right away..I wanted to see if anyone else didn't see the change right away and if that is normal? Guest guest
My son had no rash or regression. He just slowly improved but the improvement was visible within a few days. , Thanks for the reply :0) I looked under the FAQ under the database and found Stans responds to some question this is what I found "After the second day he seemed to have cold/flu like symptoms, he became more irritable, more stiming, less active (some children become more active/hyper), less eye contact, a rash broke out on his face and moved slowly to his stomach, and then he even smeared poop from his diaper on our wall in the third week (I've heard of this with a couple other families as well).
