Guest guest
Mark: I have been taking Cinnamon and I think it helps. I have heard others say the same thing. your opinion on cinnamon? for the past 2 days my sugars are now running in the 90's. everything has been the same as it has been over the past 2 weeks plus for me. carb intake the same at all my meals, eat at the same times and one hour every day on the bike. the only thing different is I started taking 2 cinnamon pills in the morning and again in the evening. I have read and heard if you are watching your carb intake and exercising that cinnamon can as well help to control your blood sugar. I'm still on 20 units of a morning and 17 at dinner. the doc did say to fax my numbers in if they changed up or down from where they was last week. I'm thinking if they remain in the 90's for a few more days I will fax them in so he can see what is happening. I will let him know I started taking cinnamon, but as most docs will tell us it has no real proof of doing any good or not. I think it has made a difference because nothing else in my life has changed. I know other T 2's that eat right and take cinnamon and do well with keeping there A1C's down in the safe range. just wanted to know what you guys thought about cinnamon for helping to control blood sugar or is it just one more way to make money for us who believe it works? Guest guest
I will concur about cinnamon. I don't have it very often, but my recollection is it helps. No " official " proof, but then, I don't put all that much stock in official studies and research. As you are finding out, Mark, you do what works for you. What more proof is there? Guest guest
Learn to enjoy one a day, maybe 2, at different times. If you can't manage this, have someone hide them, or really try not to buy them. It is okay to have a cookie now and then, just don't binge on them. Guest guest
well you are in luck! cinnamon is cheap for a large bottle that will last you a long time. the pills do cost a bit more if you compare it to just the powder, but still rather cheap at Sam's. Guest guest
Both my heart doctor and endo told me to eat only real butter, only unsalted. They say it is so much better for you than the fake stuff. But, of course, moderation is the key-as in all foods for us diabetics. _____ From: blind-diabetics [mailto:blind-diabetics ] On Behalf Of Mark Ruth Sent: Monday, March 26, 2012 1:46 PM To: blind-diabetics Subject: Re: your opinion on cinnamon? well I would agree if only butter is under the cinnamon and not that fake butter, but the real thing. Guest guest
glad to hear this fine news. the only problem I got is I do buy the salted real butter. haven't got to the no salt yet, but working on cutting down and then out in my cooking. probably going to take a bit though. love salt and very hard to change. they say we learn as a baby to like the taste of salt as we grow up? well I suppose my parents got me to eating salt at a early age and now I really dig the taste it gives to food. I do agree with real butter. hate that fake stuff. would rather do with out and use butter buds instead.
