Guest guest
It was my understanding that medicaid waiver does waive income requirements in every state. We just got my son on this in NY. We would never be approved based on income. In NY there is no waiting list for this. There is a ton of paperwork and it took about 6 months to go through multiple rounds of approvals. With medicaid, we have a secondary insurance that covers copays on meds and labs, dr and hospital visits that are in network, all therapy services that we would have to pay for out of pocket, diapers, and respite (which is babysitting.) Guest guest
Caryn - we have been on MA waiting list for 4 years - and I know a number of people who are waiting. Where in NY are you? > > > >

Guest guest
One more thing, did you actually apply for medicaid itself at the Social Security office? Perhaps the hold up is one of the earlier steps, like getting a non-medicaid service coordinator to help you apply. We had to first apply to our local LIDDSO which is part of the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities to get approved for services. Then, we had to get a non-medicaid service coordinator. This coordinator helped us do all the paperwork and steps necessary to get approved for the " waiver " and then apply for medicaid. Medicaid itself only took a month to get approved based on the waiver of financial need. Caryn > > > > > > > > > > >
