Guest guest
Hi, Joe and Joanie posed a question about different ideas for fundraising.... Of course, they are fond of motorcycles and bike runs are good....I just was in Pittsburgh over the weekend for the third annual Barbara A. Fiorillo bike run and picnic. They had over 230 bikes participating. It was quite an experience. I'll post some pictures soon.....Here's the link if you want to check their site out: http://www.bafmemorialfund.org/. Rob Fiorillo and his brothers and sisters pulled out all the stops out and sold out. They raffled off a 2007 Harley son Bob. Their mother died from pulmonary fibrosis three years ago and they had never heard of the disease until that time. They wanted to make a difference and raise awareness and much need funds for research. Rob has been known to stop bikers on the street and give them a brochure...... Here are some fundraising ideas: Golf Tournament Cocktail Party / Wine Tasting Walk a thon / Marathon / Bike Run Candlelight Bowling Garage / Yard Sale Tennis Tournament Bingo Night Letter writing campaign In lieu of gifts (birthday, anniversary, holiday, etc.) Cajun/Cowboy Festival Something you have a passion for Anyone else have other ideas?? We had a couple of children sell lemonade and give their proceeds to the Foundation. It could be something simple or complex. Just raising awareness is key. No one seems to know about this disease. We have to change this! We have events coming up later this month. Here's the links if you want to check them out. If you are in the area and are able to participate, better still!! http://www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org/mi.htm 2 events in Michigan - one is a golf tournament and the second one is the 4th annual paddle out pulmonary fibrosis. The Dery family has been extremely hard hit by this disease and have run a very successful canoe outing for the past three years. This year Siemens Corporation will be participating. http://pulmonaryfibrosis.org/ny.htm - Tennis Tournament hosted by Feldman, her mom and aunt passed away from pulmonary fibrosis. If anyone would like to host a fundraiser, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us. Leanne Storch Executive Director Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation 1332 N.
