I milk my finger before poking it. If I don't get a beep when trying the

first time, I squeeze the finger some more. If I still don't get anything,

I squeeze it again. If that still yields nothing, I choose a different

finger and try again. Even after all that I sometimes get a reading that I

know is not right in which case I have to go for it again. That's the one

thing I hate about the Prodigy meter is that it's way too easy to get an

incorrect reading but it's a tradeoff. The Solo V2 I understand does a

better job at this but you don't get accessible time and dates and I don't

think you get averages either. In addition, the meter isn't covered, and

the strips have a co-pay where the Prodigy meter and strips are fully

covered with no co-pay with my insurance.

Subject: problems lately with getting enoug blood or any

blood on the strip

I know I am squeezing my finger in the right spot

but a lot of times I have to hunt around on the strip before the blood

will go into it.

If that happens, it tends to read very low and obviously not right.

I have found if it gives me the beep to tell me the blood is on and it

beeps pretty much right away, my results come out fine for me.

I don't know what is going on with it lately.

tia for any help with this.

Well what u said about having to re squeeze your finger if it don't

work the first time.

I have tried this but in the process of doing this it sometimes beeps

so I have to start all over with a new strip.

To be honest, I'd rather have the prodigy voice. With my prodigy

autocode I never got enough blood on and always got an error message so

when i had that, my wife had to help me and she could get it just fine.

BTW they say in the manual to milk the finger then wipe it on something

to get the blood drop gone.

Then apply the blood.

Does one necessarily have to do this step?

thanks

I never wipe my finger before getting a sample. Almost seems contrary to me

as I have trouble getting enough blood to begin with. I'm afraid if I were

to wipe the finger, I'd get nothing.

I sometimes have to do that because the first brop gets smeared and

won't work. Most of the time anymore I have to double or stripe the sticks.

My fingers are so callused It's hard to find a place to stick.

It’s Humana. I should check again as the last time I did it was a couple of

months ago.

What is the insurance company? You would think they would cover both strips

equally.

Hi Rick.

Well I have tried both ways since i got my machine and i get mixed

results either way.

I guess it will take more experimenting to see which works better.

I usually have good results by washing my hands with very warm water, then

wiping them dry.

IF you've got Medicare and this is an advantage plan, it won't change until next

year if it's going to change.
