Guest guest
One of the things I have been doing is to keep a log at each meal or time I eat anything. It slows me down and helps me focus on the food experience. I try to notice the colors of the foods, the aromas, textures, taste(sweet, sour, etc., temperature, and pleasure factor(YUM or YUCK). I really like my bowl of mixed fruit with all the beautiful colors. Blue blueberries, red strawberries, purple cranberries and more. I like the different temperatures too of hot oatmeal and cold milk. And I love the HOT fudge on my cold ice cream. There are so many more.I was unaware of how often I was doing other things at the same time like TV, computer, reading, mind wandering, etc. I did a lot of mindless eating and still do at night, I think because I'm bored. I have known for a long time that I was an emotional eater. I did not realize how little I enjoyed any food, except the " forbidden " ones. I have been deliciously delighting in all those now. I still fight the diet mentality, especial the food police, but am gaining ground. I too refused weigh-in at my doctors. I have the right to do that. And I don't bother to try to explain. They wouldn't get it anyway and I'd end up with a lecture. I am going back over the post from in more detail and it is very helpful to keeping me on track and reminding me of things I have forgotten or missed altogether. Keep up the good work everyone and please do keep posting such helpful material.
