Guest guest
Great idea, Latoya. Unfortunately, I'm a bit of a luddite when it comes to Facebook and Twitter. I can barely keep up with my online " commitments " as it is, so I'm loathe to add more to the mix. But I'm in the minority among my friends, so I will certainly pass the word! Josie > > Hi Everyone! > > I wanted to share with you all about a new project that I'm just kicking off. I've had this deep desire for the word and awareness to spread more quickly about intuitive eating and the transformational potential that it has for so many people's lives. > > The published book Intuitive Eating came out 15 years ago and Overcoming Overeating by Hirshmann and Munter was published over 20 years ago. However, I, like many others, only recently learned about the non-dieting approach. Thankfully, I found this forum within 4 months of starting my intuitive eating journey in early 2008. > > As I've been building my practice, blogging about IE, and sharing more with others, I constantly get the response: " I've never heard of intuitive eating. " The Eat. Move. Love. project has been born out of my desire to expedite the spread of awareness about intuitive eating. > > I'd really like to know how many of us are out their practicing IE and also increase our numbers, specifically over the next year. My lofty goal is to know that the message has been spread to at least 10,000 women worldwide. So, I've created a Facebook Fan Page: > > http://www.facebook.com/pages/Eat-Move-Love/129256113778297 > > and a Twitter account: http://twitter.com/eatmovelove in order to track this project. > > I plan to publish inspirational quotes, tips, events, and recipes to support the transition from the pervasive dieting-binging lifestyle to a natural eating way of being. > > I strongly believe that we need more mainstream visibility and adoption of IE principles. I'd love to see you all support and participate in this effort! Please feel free to pass this along. > > Latoya:) >
Guest guest
I can definitely appreciate the security concerns related to being online. The great thing about social media is that you have the choice to give sites as much real information as you want. I personally have a " junk " email account through Yahoo. So, when I set-up accounts with sites that I have concerns about, I use that email. Also, people interface with Twitter and Facebook, specifically in alot of different ways. Some people use pictures of nature as their profile picture instead of showing a real picture. A friend of mine's uses an alias on Facebook so that no one can find her unless she reveals who she is to them. What's great is that online sites have no way of verifying who you are, they simply need a valid email address to approve you. Sometimes, I don't even provide my correct b-day. I'll give a b-day that I can remember. Staying connected with friends and family and interacting with people around causes through Twitter and Facebook has actually brought a lot of joy and fun into my life. I'm personally an advocate for things that inspire good vibes and good feelings. I chose Twitter and Facebook as avenues to see a visual count of awareness of this project because so many people already use these services. " Liking " a fan fage or " following " on Twitter takes a click of a button which is 1-2 seconds at the most. After that click, a person doesn't have to do anything else, so the convenience factor is unmatched. I appreciate the energy of support that you all are sending! > > I would love to participate Laytoya but I am scared of using facebook and > twitter because of the lack of security of your private information I really > wish there was another place I could go to get your recipes and tips as > well as add my name to the growing list of people following the IE lifestyle > . Guest guest
I've been traveling a lot and haven't had time to keep up with this list the way I like let alone my Facebook and twitter accounts but when I get to the office I will connect with you on both.I applaud what you're doing. Guest guest
, Awesome! I was just about to post that I forgot to mention that: The participation of men is very welcome and needed! This campaign is specifically targeting an increase in awareness with women because we remain the largest consumers of the dieting industry, even though diets don't work. However, men have been increasingly affected by food and weight obsession as well.
