Guest guest
SonRise is not only for extreme behaviours, it works also for kids with Asperegers, developmental delays, speech delays, autism, basically any child with special needs. I went to the Start-Up training in MA and met parents all over the world with kids with all kinds of diagnosis. My son doesn't have any extreme behaviours (knocking on wood), but so far he is responding really well to the program. Basically the program emphasizes that by encouraging eye contact and accepting the child without judgment that he will become more open for social contacts and willing for engagement. To acquire new skills they teach you how to use your child particular motivation for learning, or in other words we need to play first games that our son is most interested and then when we get the " green light " he will join us with games that we want him to play so that he can learn new things. The unique part of the program is that they work a lot on the parents attitude, I have never seen this from any other program I have researched or heard of. The message I got from there was that if we the parents are optimistic and believe in our kids than anything is possible, simply there are no false hopes.
