Guest guest
Hi Carolyn I'm actually feeling the same.... the only problem which the pred resolved slightly is the achilles heel tendonitis and some of my leg pain, which is not the reason I'm taking the pred...LOL the pressure on my throat is still there, like a lump I want to swallow, so right now I'm more inclined to think it's post nasal drip, accompanied by anxiety... I remember having the lump feeling a few times during my adolescent yrs and young adulthood too... I'm very susceptible to anxiety and my throat is the weak point. If this was RP I feel that the pred would have helped somewhat, don't you agree? I've only been on it for 3 days at 50 mg. Last night was a bad night, I fell asleep right away because I was relaxed and tired... but I woke up from a rather disturbing dream at about 4 am and had this lump feeling in my throat and as if I couldn't breathe, so I got up, peed and sat on the living room couch and slept there for the remainder of the morning until I had to get up for work around 6 am... any input is appreciated... Know that I love you guys and I pray for you all... sorry for not posting more often. Guest guest
Hi Carmela! You're right, we know it's going to be hard to sort out. If it was anxiety only though, I would have expected it to get better fairly quickly with the tranquilizer you were taking -- sorry, forgot which one-- and not take 1-2 days. At least that's my experience with my patients. I suspect, just from observing myself, that 50 may not be enough for RP in the throat. I know I still have the lunp and trouble breathing on 60. Maybe not quite as bad but still not much better. Or, if the pred works it will take awhile -- inthe throat we're probably talking about swelling of the trachea which may be hard to " de-swell " quickly. Even in the small airways it can take awhile. So stay on the pred, please, likek I keep saying it'll make ME feel better if nothing else. The Flonase will take about 2-3 weeks to fully kick in --are you taking a decongestant to help sort it out meanwhile? Will type in the nasal saline recipe when I get it. I know that it needs what we call Hawaiian salt here -- over there it may be called sea salt or something -- you can't use " Morton's " -- not sure if the brands are the same in Canada. Also, if I remember correctly you'll need bicarbonate so you may want to pick these up next time you go to the market. Sorry about your bad night -- unfortunately I guess we all know what those are like.... Guest guest
Hi Carolyn I understand what you mean about the anxiety passing quickly, but I'm the type of person who has anxiety and stays with me until I feel I'm over what it is that's bothering me... and I didn't keep on taking the Valium... maybe I will this weekend and see how that goes. My rheumy called be back today and mentioned to give the pred at least 10 days to kick in, (my sed rate is 36) however, when I was on 50 mg pred this past summer my nose flared anyway... and pred was increased to 75 mg... I can try this anyway after the 50 mg and see if it works...but I rather wait and see. If the throat gets worse I'll increase the dose. Yes we have sea salt here, and bicarb, not a problem... thanks for the help and info, it's much appreciated. luv Carmela ***************************** > >Reply-To: Rpolychondritisegroups >To: <Rpolychondritisegroups> >Subject: Re: Carmela, Carolyn >Date: Fri, 1 Dec 2000 07:03:31 -1000 > >Hi Carmela! > >You're right, we know it's going to be hard to sort out.
