Guest guest
Hi Rene, Thought I'd answer your question as to how I feel without any meds (other than daily synthroid and vitamins) GREAT! I've been off the methotrexate since October 20th and so far, so good. But keep in mind, I didn't just stop it, I was weaned gradually for about 16 weeks. I am however, going to have blood work done here again in a couple of weeks just to follow up and while I'm at it, will ask the PCP to have my hormone levels checked also so when I see the OBGYN in Dec, I'll ask where I am on the menopause scale! I have the annual pap, mamogram and now a colonoscopy scheduled for Dec just to make sure everything is A-OKAY! I did want to mention that in the literature I have for both prednisone and methotrexate, it states that menstral cycles will most likely be affected or altered after prolonged use. Make sure though, that as a pre-menopausal woman, you need to take at least 1000 mgs of a good brand of calcium daily. This not only helps to preven ostioporosis (sp), but also greatly helps alleviate mood swings and the other " fun " things that come with our cycles. My PMS has improved a lot since I increase from 500 to 1000 mgs daily. Exercise (if possible) is also beneficial. I'm back to the gym at least 3-4 times a week and have started playing raquetball. I used to play tournament ball in my 20's, but now when I try to show off those 20 year old moves, I end up in the chiropractor's office getting my bones put back where they belong! Oh well, at least I'm young in mind, even if my body doesn't always cooperate! Take care and if you'd like the whole vitamin cocktail I take on a daily basis, let me know and I'll send the info.
