Guest guest
brett thanks for the update. you are never far from my thoughts. the sun is shining here in the uk today and that doesn't happen very often. we brits are mad, we strip at the least sign of sun and just refuse to put our tops back on and just shiver away. i'm just about to go sit in my mum's garden and try and persuade her to come for a drive. i met an old friend last week and we took her 2yr old to the park - its been such a long time since i had a child that age around me - we spent 6hrs there even though we had some showers. he had great fun and made me think of elizabeth. what a great age. may uip 0606 scotland > > Hello everyone > just wanted to say Im still here reading post's everyday > not really sure of what to say except > I hope everyone is doing as well as can be expected > I will be meeting with my oncologist sometime in the next couple days > to talk about treatment options I will most certainly keep you all > posted > > Brett Bowser 40 MI. > familial UIP/IPF 11/07 > stage 4 lung cancer 7/08 >

Guest guest
Brett I know we would all be worried about chemo. It's scary while at the same time you're so thankful its available and can help. So, I'm going to imagine for you that your chemo experience is much like it was for a friend I had in South Florida a few years ago. owned a company where I had consulted quite a bit and he and his aunt (minority owner) called me in one day to ask me to take over while he underwent treatment for Lymphoma. Well, was scared through the process as any of us would be. He went to Mt. Sinai in New York. He had always laughed at his aunt's use of a hypnotist in NY who specialized in regression to previous lives but he even went to the woman too. He was covering all bases and she semi-convinced him it was to fix where he'd been cut badly during the middle ages. Regardless, he found her soothing ways helpful. Well, he underwent his first two weeks of Chemo. Now, was a hobbiest big game fisherman. He had his own boat and participated in annual multi tournament circuits. I never knew these existed or how much money was put in by participants and potentially won. Well, he'd cancelled due to the treatment. However, as he neared the end of the two weeks, he asked his doctor if he could then come to Miami between treatments. The doctor said " you'll be nauseous " . His famous line was " I'd rather be nauseous in Miami than in New York. " then called us and we checked to see if anyone had withdrawn from the tournament which was starting the day after his last of the round of chemo. Sure enough, there was an opening. We arranged for him to fly down and get taken out to join it. then won the tournament hands down with the biggest Marlin, the biggest total catch, everything. Turns out it was the largest ever caught in that area of the Bahamas and made newspapers and everything. He fought it to land it for hours and joked he didn't think he could have done it before, that the chemo must have given him extra strength. continued the treatment, in less than six months he was back as good or better than before, running his company full speed and I moved on. The only thing different was some loss of hair but with the loss of weight he actually ended at his perfect weight. He never had a return or anymore problem. Why do I tell this story? Because for some reason you, with your strength and determination, remind me of . Yes, scared, but determined. It was all summed up in " but I'll handle it. " I believe you will. I don't underestimate any of it and know its difficult, but the biggest thing is I don't underestimate your ability to battle and do what it takes. > > > Brett, It is so good to know you will be reading this post.
