what kind of snacks do you carry around?

Hi, Kate,

For items that won't spoil, I like to find things that are packed in single-serving containers if I can find them on sale or for a good price. I carry Trader Joe's Light Popcorn with me in the trunk of my car--it's yummy and gives me a light carb fix when I'm feeling faint, but doesn't fill me up or trigger me. I tend to carry fruit, but everything but apples bruise easily or can be messy. Trader Joe's also has nuts that come in single-serving packs, in a variety of types, and even some trail mix, if you like that sort of thing. Things like this can be more economically packed yourself in the snack-size ziplock baggies. I carry my beloved Panda licorice that way, and sometimes unsalted nuts. I do like some of the 100-calorie snacks that are commercially available (when they're on sale, they aren't exorbitantly expensive), but after an initial flurry of wanting them many days, I have a grocery bagful that's languishing here. None of these are nutritious, but they serve a purpose if you want something tasty and quick. I've never been triggered by any of these--but I think quantity is a huge trigger for me. I like: Pepperidge Farm Milano (2 small cookies), Pepperidge Farm Soft Baked Oatmeal Raisin (made with whole grain), Cheese-It Party Mix, Pringles, Nabisco Mister Salty Yogurt-flavored Pretzels, and Trader Joe's Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies. I do like having something with me because it gives me permission to eat whenever I'm hungry, and that's a good signal to send my poor abused body: Food is always here, and you can have it whenever you whistle! No need to hang onto fat--no famine ahead!

All best,

Laurie

I find I get hungry at unpredictable times that isn't convenient for

eating a meal. Sometimes just eating a one bite of something will

settle me down until I can eat later...and I find that's all I really

needed...but I have a hard time coming up with what kinds of food to

carry around, that won't spoil or make a mess in my backpack.

Any suggestions? I prefer non-meat items that I could carry around

all day.<<<
