Guest guest
It seem to me that someone was asking about receiving ex husbands social security. Am I right or was this just a dream?? Well if I was right, I found an article on it. It states: " Here are the basic requirements for Social Security divorced spouse benefits: To qualify for benefits as a divorced spouse,ou must be at least 62 and have been married to your ex-husband for at leat ten years and curently be unmarried. Your former spouse must ba at least 62 and have enough quarters of SS covered work to qulify for benefits. If your former spouse is eligible for SS, but not actually drawing benefits, you can still collect if you've been divorced for at least 2 years(or were receiveing benefits before the divorce). You'll receive a benefit amount based on your own work history or an amount equal to half of your former spouse's benefit, whichever is greater. If you have two or more eligible exes, you can collect from the one with the highest benefits. But if you remarry after you start colecting those benefits, your eligibility status might be affected " For more info log on to www.aarp.org. From there you can link to the SS Administration Web site, www.ssa.gov. I sure hope I wasn't dreaming this......LOL oh well, we've learned that if we get a divorce we can collect their SS. All is not lost.LOL C
