We use expensive manuka honey. It's supposed to have healing properties. Like anti-viral and such.We use it sparingly or will give a big teaspoonful alone or in water for a cold/virus.Not to gross you out, but white dots in the poop can be parasites. I believe you can treat naturally with food if you can get her to eat pumpkin seeds, and a few other things. There's a thread going on in here recently about parasites.

Hi,

My daughter (epileptic, ADHD, autistic and very sensory) loves honey. She wants to have usually in the morning and afternoon. Her seasures suddenly got worse and I decided to reduce the sugars. She is circa one month in GFCF diet and supplements(Ca, MG, L-Carn., Multivit., Porb., Omega 3, MB12 pouder, N-Acetylciste., B6), so far with no noticeable results. I also think she has yeast because her poop has lots of white dots. At the same time I read honey works as anti-alergic and anti-inflamatory agent. Is that true? What is your position about honey?

Thank you,

le

Well, I know that consuming locally grown honey is supposed to take care of allergies.

It does feed yeast, but it's a loaded antibiotic/probiotic.

If you wanted to take the approach of starving out yeast, I would avoid it. If you want to take the approach of just getting good wholesome nutrition into her, and this was a means of delivery,I'd continue to let her have it in very small amounts. The more time goes by, and the more I learn, the more I'm siding with getting serious nutrition into my kids (avoiding allergens, of course) and letting the body balance everything else on its own. Sometimes we've gotta pick our battles.

You also have to be sure to read labels because many places are adding HFCS to their honey because of the bee shortage.

bee keeper here, all honey has antiviral and antibacterial properties, local

honey is your best best to help reduce inflammation due to seasonal allergies,

and raw honey is the best. But you have to be-careful, as raw honey can have

things in it that normal immune people can handle, where as our kiddos cannot

handle it. If you read the labels on honey it says that it should not be

consumed by children under one or two years of age. This is because there

stomach flora isn't able to handle the honey and any bad microbes that might be

in there, again normal immune people have no trouble handling this.

hope this helps alittle

Can you do maple? Maple butter is a good honey sub, but I think maple is not SCD allowed.

Hello,

Thank you all for your replies. This group is wounderful. Yesterday I decided

for a sugar free day. I think she was more aware and had less tantrums. Can be

the epilepsy bad cicle finishing, can it be only my imagination, but I will keep

on doing to be sure. My husband wants us to increase the antiepileptic drug, but

I asked him some more time to try this sugar free approach. He doesn´t believe

that much in alternative treatments, but he respects my decisions.

I will defitily look for raw honey. I had no idea about. How much I still have

to learn!
