Guest guest
No, but low oxalate diet is rumored to possibly chelate. I'm not sure if that is from the Great Plains website or from Owens. We also use B1, but I'm not sure if that chelates when taken orally, the way TTFD works topically?? @Toni are you doing any chelating??? > > > > > > > I was reading part of Amy Yasko's book on Google books and read about how > > low GABA affects speech and could improve it. Guest guest
Can you please share your specific brand of GABA?NazeemaTo: mb12 valtrex Sent: Tue, March 15, 2011 1:52:07 PMSubject: Re: GABA and speech improvement We just started GABA ("Zen" capsules) this past week with the hopes that it would help with anxiety, but my son's speech improved dramatically just a couple of hours after I gave the first dose. It's difficult to say whether it's due to the GABA but the timing was very interesting to me. We gave him the GABA before his nap on Friday, and he woke up from his nap speaking clearly! It was very sudden. I didn't know that GABA is known to help with speech in some cases so I really think this may be the case for my son. What I noticed was that his speech was much easier to understand -- he had been slurring his words and was getting harder to understand, and all of a sudden we could understand every word that he was saying! -Angie > > I was reading part of Amy Yasko's book on Google books and read about how low GABA affects speech and could improve it. Guest guest
HALLELUJAH! I'm adding GABA to my line of supps starting tomorrow! Holy crap, I wish I would've read about GABA sooner! I'm chasing verbal language like it's the holy grail... I hadn't come across GABA being used as a language supp yet but if GABA does it for even one of you guys, I'm trying GABA. OK, maybe i'm really tired from a head cold and all and this makes sense only to me...but GABA sounds so close to gabbing that I think it's GOTTA work for a speech supp. We just started GABA ( " Zen " capsules) this past week with the hopes that it would help with anxiety, but my son's speech improved dramatically just a couple of hours after I gave the first dose. Guest guest
Did you have good speech experiences with GABA? Please share!!!OK, I just sourced a GABA from AOR at a holistic pharmacy near me. I've liked AOR's supplements and I don't want to wait another two weeks for this to come in to try it. I'm onna ROLL with speech right now... How much do you guys typically start with? I got this one that's 600 mg but should I start lower? Note to myself: I've been a wuss with supplements before and it wasn't until I gave them at much high dosages that I saw any significant changes. Hell, the Carnosine I was doing didn't work until I tripled the dosage! I've been cranking the CLO, the carnosine, the MB12 drops, the flax oil...it feels SO DAMNED CLOSE! Just at the tip of my fingers but just oh-so-far-away!!!! How much does the Yasko protocol suggest we do for speech, ? And are there any supporting supplements I need for absorption? GABA is awesome! Guest guest
Gaba can work well with L-Theanine. But L-theanine is from green tea, and for my daughter, it's no good. She reacts to it in the " phenol " way for her, means crying about lots of silly things (makes her very weepy) But I give Gaba and L-theanine to my son. I use " Theanine Serene. " Oh, Niacin is supposed to help GABA but it can sometimes cause flushing.GABA helps balance out glutamate, an excitotoxin... the way anti-seizure medications work is that they balance the GABA and glutamate. We are using more magnesium and B6, since those are " anti-seizure " type things as well.My son has not been so talkative as he has been this past ten days. He has slurred speech but great receptive language and even a good vocab, he just is not good at pronouncing. Anyway, I am sure you all would probably be thrilled with the amount of speech LOL but since he's hyper and just basically not shutting up from 6am to 10pm, I am not enjoying it. I am suffering but I am happy he is practicing speaking, because it's the only way to improve enunciation, right? SIGH. He is repeating everyone and everything, too. PS I think my son's anxiety makes him selectively mute... because he will talk all day around people he knows and then if someone else tries to get him to say something, he frequently will just look at them. It doesn't have to be a stranger. So, anyhoo, good luck! I hope it has a good effect for you! Did you have good speech experiences with GABA? Guest guest
GREAT link! Thanks! I'm just foaming at the mouth about parasites and GABA right now! I don't know what's changing right now or if I have these worms at the top of mind but I think I'm seeing worms in her stools! Little tiny meaty worms. They look a little too meaty to be pinworms. I can almost see the segments in some of those gooey strands in her poop. I haven't started any parasite treatment yet -- just a little iodine in her drinks and giving her sea salt with iodine. I'm getting heebeejeebees just from seeing the little ones. I better get emotionally prepared to see the bigger ones. I dunno what I would do if I saw something like the ones they showed on the Dr. Natura site...I might just cry...with joy or horror, I'm still not sure. Anyway, I just made a few calls to my favorite supp stores (because I don't think I can wait for shipping because I'm just too excited about it and our mailman, who lives right next door to us, will kill me because I'll be bugging him every day -- is my GABA here yet??? -- even though it'll probably be sent by UPS) -- and I found one from AOR 600 mg per capsule that I'm going to pick up tomorrow. She sleeps well in the first place, but my son doesn't so we can always try that GABA with him, too. Hell, I think I'll try on both of them. I've been cranking the carnosine and it works but our protocol needs a little more...umph. I was also reading about and thinking about switching our MB12 for the HydroxoB12. The MB12 works but just not enough...umph. I can't help but to wonder if HydroxoB12 would work better for us. Alberta!! Here's a cool site that lists the Paranil Jr. AND the GABA in the supplement section!!!http://www.autismhelp4u.com/supplements.html I read on some other forum that the suggestion is to start with one capsule and if no changes then two the next day and then if no changes then three....and after this if there are no changes in any way then your child may not need GABA.??? The kirkman labs brand is 250 mg...so....... > >> >> >> > I was reading part of Amy Yasko's book on Google books and read about> >> how low GABA affects speech and could improve it. Guest guest
I get GABA at The Vitamin Shoppe. You can buy chewable GABA-calm in really small doses or the Source Naturals is 750 mg. Our dosing varies. GREAT link! Thanks! I'm just foaming at the mouth about parasites and GABA right now! Guest guest
Tom was the same way when he was Alek's age. Tom's issues seem to have been a bit deeper than Alek's at his age, but I understand now that this was because he wasn't sure what other people wanted/expected/were saying. With us, he had us down to a science so it was easy. With others, not so much. For the longest time, I couldn't understand where they were coming up with the stories at school...it took a long time to realize there was an enormous difference in him between home and the classroom.
