Guest guest
That is very interesting. I don't know how I would feel being a recipient of a transplant. I would be grateful of course but knowing someone had to pass away to get the organ would make me feel bad at the same time. Guest guest
My wife's mom likes to make sure that everyone has enough to eat whether it's a family gathering, and I are at their house for a weekend visit, or out to eat. , after thirteen years of marriage, has really learned a lot about helping me to manage my diabetes. In April 2010, I did take my dose of Novolog a little too early and dinner wasn't going to be done for another ten or fifteen minutes. When it was done, I started eating, but was unable. kept trying to get me to take different things to bring me out of the low sugar. The last thing I remember, is waking up in the rescue squad on the way to the hospital. says there were two paramedics, two city police officers and one of our county deputies in our apartment. Oh and not to mention, being the main attraction here at the apartment complex. was leery of my instructed insulin doses for a while after that incident. Re: Call From The Doctor It's a long lonely road sometimes. Most people simply don't appreciate the opportunity to be re-educated. Which is what it comes down to. A new way of thinking, a new way of eating. Hopefully, some of the people in our lives we connect with will catch on, but usually they don't. I will say, my mother-in-law is making slow progress, and this is thanks in part to my wife who is also finally beginning to catch on. A typical Easter meal (thought of this since it's coming up) might have the usual, ham in our case, but my mother-in-law could not think of serving a big meal without 3 or 4 sources of carbohydrates. There might be mashed potatoes, corn, stuffing, and dinner rolls. Plus dessert! But she is starting to see the light, and it will be interesting this coming Sunday to see if the carb count is lower. Guest guest
Yes, that is all he prescribed, and then a pain pill as needed for that swelling in my ankle and that feels better the more I keep off of it and keep it elevated. Guest guest
no need to be sad. it is a blessing to have more life from those who decide to give an organ after they pass. I believe they do it because they aren't thinking of just them self. they wish for the living who need there body part that they will no longer need to keep on living. what a blessing to get such a gift from a very special person! maybe the giver feels like they are still living if you got a body part that they use to have? I heard in some countries you can actually sell a body part for cash? I know you can only live with one kidney, but why would you sell one for say $10,000 just because you need the cash? maybe I should look in to selling my belly to a thin man who wishes to have a big belly? I mean he may be rich and will give me say, $20,000 to have one right now! he wouldn't have to work at it and spend all the cash I have on getting mine over the years. he could go to bed and wake up with a huge belly. I don't have a big butt, so can't sell any of it. my eyes don't work any more, so that is out. my ears are beginning to lose the ability to hear like they once did, so that is out as well. I've never been a drinker, but maybe I could sell a small piece of my liver! I don't have any extra brain, so can't let go of any that I do got. enjoy my fingers to much even though they are beginning to hurt from the finger sticks. need both lungs, so looks like my big belly is the only thing I got for sell! taking bids right now! lets start the bidding out at $5000! Guest guest
My wife says it must have been the diabetes police. I guess it's too small of a town, as she remembered me, or my friends and I picked the wrong place to eat. Also probably the wrong time to have a chocolate malt craving. Guest guest
Yeah, it seems that we can be at the wrong place, at the wrong time, because of the town's size. Re: Call From The Doctor Fortunately I eat at home all the time because we never go anywhere and I just go out to lunch with my daughter and a girl friend of mine who I have known for more than 40 years. Since we only do it once or twice a year I treat myself a little bit then. Call From The Doctor > > Hi All, > I got a call from Dr. and he is not too happy. Guest guest
Mark, I know this is out of our normal scope, but I find it amazing that you say your Mom and Grandfather were also blind. I do know some people who have a blind parent and some who have a blind child. Call From The Doctor > > Hi All, > I got a call from Dr. and he is not too happy. Guest guest
Well, you can have one for me. Re: Call From The Doctor Oh-oh! When I got the pizza said " Why did you go against the doctor? " I said I wanted it for a long time and couldn't stand it anymore. I have a lot to spread over the week. I will probably give our friend Jim one tonight when he coes home from work. I'm not selfish. Guest guest
The pancreas I received came from a male in New York. My kidney is from a sixteen year old female from Phoenix Arizona. When the transplant team told me who it was from I told them I felt bad for her and her family. They said, yes it is sad, but at the same time, her family has chosen to help someone live. I can never thank them enough. Re: Call From The Doctor That is very interesting. I don't know how I would feel being a recipient of a transplant. Guest guest
The nebraska transplant doctors told me at first that i could not know anything about the donor. But before I left nebraska theytold me that I could communicate with letters. Is this true, and also, can u actually hae a live meeting with the family? I've had my kidney like over 20 years now and have never heard or talked to my donor family. How can i find them? thanks scott -- Email services provided by the System Access Mobile Network. Guest guest
Hi , it has been 10 years with my kidney, but my Uncle donated his to me, so I never went through dialysis however my pancreas was done 2 years later, going on 8 years now on Mother's day, and I was not to contact the family, and they are not to know of me;however I do know it was from a 22 year old young hispanic man, who happened to be in a drive by shooting, where every organ was damaged...all but his pancreas, and this is why I say, that had to be from God(not that God allowed this to happened) but if it was his time, then his pancreas was meant for me. This was, and all I am to know I say a prayer for his family every day. sugar " I would rather walk with God in the dark than go alone in the light. Guest guest
Hi , I know at one time the donor recipient couldn't have any contact with the donor's family. I have a friend that lives in Nebraska, who received a kidney a couple of years after I did. He was told if he wanted to send the family a Christmas card, he could send it through the transplant office. I had heard that if you wanted to meet the family of the donor, it would be possible, if the family is willing, but that is the only way.
