I heard to day from the Mayo clinic that those of us who sit for eleven hours

a day are more likely to have a heart attack. now if you are retired like my

self, then do I just remain on my feet all day and walk to and from all day? I

do spend a total of 2 hours per day on my no where bike and walking around the

kitchen Island, but what about the other nine hours? when I did work it was a

stand up job all day long and maybe that did help, but now retirement says I can

sit on my fat butt any time I got the chance to sit. even if I believe this fact

is true and I do, I can't just continue to walk around the house all day long! I

do have cleaning to do and different things around the home, but no sitting?

some doctor told me many years ago when I wasn't paying any attention to what

doctor's had to say, he said to get up if you had a office job and walk around

for ten minutes every hour. maybe this same advice can work for me? I can sit

and read my book for 45 minutes and then get up and walk for 15 minutes, then

sit back down and listen to my book again for 45 minutes before I got to walk

again for 15 minutes? it could be a good plan if I watch the clock and not go

any where. I wouldn't be having any of the problems I'm having now if I hadn't

of been so hard headed many years ago! how in the world do any of us get the

younger folks to listen now when we was listening back then? over eating was fun

and tasting all those foods that you dug eating? partying with your buds! steaks

on the grill and cold beer on ice, music on the stereo and a warm summer night.

how did it get any better then this? I knew a lady who would be dropped off at

the little store that was 5 miles from the lake where we all camped out. she got

dropped off there so she could run in the last 5 miles. we all thought she had a

twisted up mind or had a screw loose. how ever as it turns out, we were the

one's with the twisted up head. she had the right idea. we would all be sitting

around the fire shooting the bull and drinking, while she was standing up and

running in place, not drinking, but talking to all of us. wake up in the morning

and she was running around the camp grounds. she never drank any coffee and she

was picky about what food she ate. we all made fun of her and said how happy we

felt not to be that attached to exercise. now all these years later. I've had a

heart attack that dain near took me out. others in that circle are dead and she

last time I heard was still running in place and fit as a whistle. Why did most

of us then think she was the nut and not living for the party? what needs to

happen in my opinion is some one needs to make exercise fun and make over eating

feel bad! that banana split you use to see on TV looked real good and you would

have went to fetch you one if you could have? those hamburgers they show on the

TV look so grate and I think you can even smell them at times. really though

for us who can't see these foods on the toob, they should get smart and make

smell a vision for us to enjoy the food as they who can see. every store you go

to now days will have a kitchen cooking all kinds of fine smelling things to eat

and even though we can't see, we can smell just fine! I wonder what folks would

think at the store if we who are blind would have a clothes pen on our nose when

we walked in? of course we would have to get air through our open mouth, but at

least the food smells couldn't attack us. so you no smell and you no see is the

way to be? try to go to a mall and see how many smells will attack you. we can't

go any where these days with out food of some bad kind jumping out and getting

right in our face! the clothes pen on your nose will hurt at first, but like the

fingers you poke all the time, the nose too will soon have no more feeling of

the pain!
