Ink as therapy

Has anyone gotten a tattoo as a way to move on with their life?

Last December I seemed to have some sort of epiphany, or moment when I

discovered at the old age of 36 that I'm an individual, and a grown up and could

make my own decisions. My husband had just deployed overseas (literally days

before) and I went down and got myself a tattoo.

It was an odd experience, it was like the ink reestablished my identity. Like I

was taking control of my life. Marking my body permanently and saying MINE! ME!

I!

I got a darwin fish, with the word EVOLVE inside of it that is stylized in such

a way that you can read it from any direction. This isn't only to symbolize my

personal beleif (coming from an uber religious family I pissed some people off)

but also my personal beleive that we should be growing and evolving in every

direction and on every level.

I'm planning another one, and I'm thinking about the tree of life on my other

wrist with my girls names somehow making up the branches of the tree (I hope my

tattoo artist can do this).

Anyone else have ink symbolizing their growth, change or evicted demons?
