Guest guest
Well, here's the thing: (I hope you hear from someone who knows alot more than I do). From what I'm able to gather, it's hard to get a positive result. I think it's a very specific test that needs to be done within two weeks of an exposure. (I don't know if that counts with an "active" infection, tho) It could be that your little guy hasn't caught it three times in two months, rather it could be possible that he didn't completely get rid of it the "first time" and it keeps rearing its ugly head. It's a good sign that he doesn't have symptoms, but you don't want to take the chance of him developing symptoms, either pandas.net can tell you an awful lot more than I can. Christel knows alot about this stuff. Maybe she'll see this. I don't think drawing titers could hurt, but it's easy to get a false-positive. If you trust your dan, go for it. But I would make sure he/she had a good understanding of pandas and how to treat it if symptoms should pop up. It could just be that he's got a tough case of strep and he'll walk away from it smelling like a rose (like most people are able to). Just know what to watch for and make sure your dan knows what to do about it. I'm paranoid enough about surgery that I'd prob try to shrink them too before I went ahead and removed them...though I'm not sure how patient I'd be. Cause my son has had them for a couple years now and tested negative for strep swab but the titers were never drawn. He doesn't have PANDAS symptoms, but his DAN wants to see if treating viruses will shrink them. I don't know if I should request the strep titer before the next blood draw.>> > > Check out pandas.net   > > Is your son on the spectrum?  3 times in 2 months with enlarged adnoids and > tonsils could be a recipe for disaster for kids who already have a compromised > immune system.  I would probably want to avoid N/O if you decide to go ahead > with the surgery. (I think there are alternatives)  But strep is nothing to mess > around with --especially with our kids.  If you have a dan, I would discuss it > with him/her, too. In the mean time, make sure your probiotics don't contain > strep...even "healthy strains". And if he's on nystatin, that is derived from > strep also.    hope your little guy is feeling better soon  -tammy> > > > ________________________________> > To: mb12 valtrex > Sent: Thu, March 10, 2011 3:25:31 PM> Subject: Enlarged Tonsils / Steroid Nasal Spray> >  > Took my son to the ENT today on the advice of our ped because he has had strep > throat 3 times in 2 months. Guest guest
enlarged tonsils are a sign that something is wrong, I for sure would get some testing done, allergies, seasonal, food, strep, viral ect and then treat and they SHOULD go down. just like when the gut is inflammed it's a sign that something is wrong.....same for tonsils and adnoids From: T Lynn Sent: Thursday, March 10, 2011 9:35 PM To: mb12 valtrex Subject: Re: Re: Enlarged Tonsils / Steroid Nasal Spray Well, here's the thing: (I hope you hear from someone who knows alot more than I do).
