You share yet another story of a Village Idiot doctor.  Don't feel bad, we've had our share of Village Idiot kinds of doctors and we just don't see them anymore because they just waste my time.  It's like they slap their hands over their ears and just keep saying very loudly, " There's no cure for autism.  There's no cure for autism.  There's no cure for autism. "   God, do I ever know that.  Our pediatrician actually told me that " it's just autism " why my daughter had chronic diarrhea.  It's " just autism " .  Duh!  Why didn't I think of that?  How 'bout if I take this diaper full of runny crap and beat her to a pulp with it -- would that be " just autism " too?  Then she told me to just give my daughter Pediasure (which has soy in it -- this was 5 minutes after I just finished telling her that Maia is allergic to soy) and she said that " it's ok " because I want to " prepare " for the day when she will be on a self-limiting diet!!!!  Let me tell you how my daughter had NO eating issues.  No, she KNOWS that all autistic children have eating issues.  She ate everything just fine.  So, either my child is not autistic or not all kids on the spectrum have eating issues.  So WHY would I go and start her on Pediasure, I don't know.  Maybe she's a Village Idiot by day and the Amazing Kreskin by night, without knowing anything about ASD, she can " predict " how ASD will present in my child, even though there are infinite ways in which any one on the spectrum can present symptoms.  The Village Idiot Amazing Kreskin pediatrician...let's give that one Nobel Prize with a big shiny gold star on it.  What a dingbat.

Hello everyone,

My son is seeing a Neurologist by the name of Dr. Corbiere, in Charlotte, NC for the first time next week. Our son repeatedly day dreams several times a day, and we think it may be seizures but aren't sure. We had to wait over a year to see this Dr. and mailed out the usual health history packette to him.  I have questions written down for him but wish I could have a better understanding as to what to expect from a Pediatric Neurologist Dr.'s visit?  Does anyone have any idea what's expected in this visit and how I could be better prepared for our 2 hour long visit?

We were so dissapointed when a so called highly respected Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics Dr., named Dr. ph Stegman last year when my son was 2yrs old.  He pretty much asked us questions we had already sent to him in his health history packette while he typed them in his lap top.

He only spent 15 minutes with our son, had him pick colored specific blocks out for him, had him walk to check his gate, examined his chest, body, head and looked for abnormal features.  He said our son was a little hard to engage and then came to the diagnoses that he had " Classical Autism " , since he said they are doing away with the PDD's and PDD-NOS diagnoses.  He then referred us to the " 100 Day Kit, What do to after a Autism Diagnoses " website, and recommended a heavy ABA program!

I had showed him my son's OAT's test and he did not even

know how to read them?  I showed him how he had high Clostridia, Fungus & high bad Yeast levels in his gut.  He said Clostridia always comes back and said he was totatally opposed of any probiotics, because they altere the natural flora on the GI track and was against of vitamin overload.  He was very angry and totally against DAN Dr.'s  and said they were a total waste of money and rip-offs for deperate parents....I guess he meant like us? Easy for him to say, it's not his child we're talking about! He said come back in six months, and we said after the meeting, yeah right you eccentric creep! The next time we see you, you;ll be removing our son's diagnoses for us!

Well my husband and I knew better and just ignored him, and took the diagnoses to get services.  Our 3 year old son is living proof that good pharmaceutical grade probiotics, vitamins,

meds like Valtrex and Difflucan, our DAN Dr.'s and all of you on this forum have helped our son immensley to the road of recovery.  We know that there is a strong connection to Autism and unbalanced gut issues. I'm trying to do the GAP's diet and bought a book from Dr. Goldberg, called " The Myth about Autism " ...I don't know much about it but my " Motherly Intuition " is guiding me to this direction.

Anyways, I heard this Neurologist is for Biomedical Interventions...I'll be sure to share with you the outcome of this appointment and hope it's not another waste of our time??  Irma

Oh wanted to add. he will run urine and blood tests. Fecal tests all covered

with insurance. He also has a pharmacist that compounds in Huntersville. He will

totally get that you're treating autism biomedically. He found things for us

that our DAN didn't. he can also, if your child requires it, push for IVIG that

is covered as well. You will not be disappointed. Can't say enough about this

doctor.

Oh my Alberta, I'll never forget your village idiot story, LOL! How could some of these Dr.'s be allowed to practice? On the flip side, I'd like to mention...My son also has a very wonderful kind Pediatrician whom at least admits that he doesn't know how to treat his patients for Autism but he at least refers me to a Neurologist, like Dr Corbiere and has helped put in so much paperwork to get me services for my child. Plus, he's always encouraged me to do all I can to help recover my child because he agrees it is reversible. I never get hypocritical answers from him, I could tell he has alot of heart and although he was following his vaccination schedule from the beginning my intuition would always make me stand my ground and say no, give him 1 this time instead of 3 shots..etc.After I realized

that the vaccines were worsening my sons condition I stopped vaccinating him at 2yrs old..he hasn't had his MMR but was bombarded with everything else. This Pediatrician I'm speaking of has never pushed another vaccine since. At least he has common sense unlike these other "Village Idiots" as you call them, to funny! Thanks again for sharing your lovely post it gave me such a great chuckle ;)Take care,Irma

Hi Toni, I'd rather do a 6 hr drive then 5 hrs on a plane to the west coast, LOLI mean I would love to check out LA during my lifetime but with a 3 yr old, it must be a challenge. Come to think of it I could take the red eye, I suppose. I'll update everyone on what Dr Corbiere has to say....be well!Irma

Irma
