Guest guest
Awesome. I have the same plan in mind for Disneyland when we go later this year. Way to go! I like the sharing, but being open to getting more if you really want to. It's amazing how much I don't do or eat when I truly give myself permission to do it if I really want too.Dawn RTo: IntuitiveEating_Support Sent: Fri, August 27, 2010 12:07:55 AMSubject: IE at the Minnesota State Fair So, if you haven't experienced the Minnesota State Fair, you just haven't been to a state fair. My husband and I went to the state fair today with my mom and stepdad. I haven't been to the fair since I left Minnesota for college more than 10 years ago and my husband's never been there before. The fair is full of tons of fair food, of course, and stuff on a stick. (Bacon on a stick? Gator on a stick? Fried fruit on a stick? Hot dish on a stick? Sure.)I knew for a fact that I would NOT only eat when hungry. I haven't had cheese curds in over 10 years and I was NOT waiting for actual hunger to have them. (Yummmy, cheese curds.) Plus, I wanted too many different fair foods to wait until I was actually hungry. I accepted that this was a special occasion from the start. However, I DID only eat until satisfied with each taste. My husband and I shared almost every food we tried not because I was restricting calories, but because I'm cheap and I didn't want to buy twice as much food as we needed, only to throw it away. So we shared cheese curds, an Uff-Da treat, a fudge puppy, etc etc. I figured if either of us liked something enough, we'd just get more.We spent more than 9 hours at the fair and while I've been home two hours and I'm not hungry, I'm not stuffed or sick feeling. I am really happy that I got to eat what I wanted, I don't (and didn't) feel guilty about it, and I didn't (and don't) feel sick at all.(You know...I really like cheese curds. I thought I'd eat a whole batch by myself, but sharing a batch with my husband was great. It hit the spot and didn't feel heavy like a whole batch would've. I figured I'd just buy it again if I wanted more, but nope. It was enough.)
