Bruce, The every other day plan is also my

usual plan. It seems to keep me from over- doing too much.

I also find that just sitting and talking ( mind you I really used to

be a non-stop talker) with family or friends

can get me wasted faster than vacuuming my entire house without a

break!!!! Talking face to face or on the phone are no

longer any where near as fun! I do notice that I have begun to

actually listen more!!! Good trade-off!

Yes, mental strain can do lots of things. Reread what you just posted

too, Jane. You know thats too much. You need to space and balance and

maintain taking proper care of Jane as priority number one. Only you can

figure out the proper balance but I can tell in your post you know you

have a bit much this week.

Beth

I was told to limit treadmill to every other day. Not sure if that makes

sense or is right for you either. I think you, like all of us, need to

continue to weigh the physical tolls and the emotional ones on our well

being. You commented on the strain of dealing with Virginia and

repeating things but I heard more strain coming from not being able to

get her where you feel she belongs. Regardless, just accept that you're

doing a great deal to make her life better, and you're doing al you can.

However, recognize if you find you have too much on your plate at any

point and keep Beth number one.

Now, I don't know how things work for others but I find I try to do a

lot of "every other day" scheduling. If I have several things planned in

a day (whether pleasure or doctor) then I try not to back that up with

another such day. If I'm out today running around town and picking up

things I need, then, tomorrow, I'll still get out briefly, but I'll plan

to spend more of the day doing things around my apartment. I just find

back to back heavy days make the second day a bit much. Meanwhile, give

me an easy day in between and I'm ready for more. I found the same thing

even on my long trip. I also found, and this may be because I'm use to

living alone, that after a couple of days with family, I needed an

evening to just collapse and rest alone. Sitting and carrying on

conversations all evening could get to be a bit taxing. I even took one

afternoon and night traveling from one to the other, when I could have

gone all the way, just to relax in a hotel, all to myself, peace and

quiet.
