This happened to our son after he was on Valtrex for 1 week. He also developed a cold/upper respitory infection right after that. His behaviors were excellent until he got sick. We are hoping we will come out of it and see his behavior bloom again. Lysine is wonderful for canker sores. Also, as a canker sore is viral, you can take GSE (pills or drops) a few times a day until clear. For myself, I pour cell food drops directly on the cold sore. It does stink pretty awful for about 20 seconds, but then it heals beautifully - like within a day or two ... which is much, much faster than without. So sorry for your son. They really hurt.

Thank you so much for your response. What type of Lysine do you recommend, I have quantum drops here but they have shitake mushrooms in them too. I haven't been able to find pure Lysine drops.Also what are cell food drops? Thanks again!!!
