Guest guest
You seem to be responding well to insulin. Especially if this is a 70/30 mix. An increase in the long acting (or Lantus) might help your morning readings which are a bit high, but for you they're a noted improvement. But this would mean using separate short acting (i.e. Humalog) and long acting insulins. Watch eating saturated fats, especially later in the day or at night (including dinner). I didn't ask the nurse why when she called me to let me know of the change, but I'm wondering if he thought the 20 units at dinner may send my sugar to low over night? when I told him in his office I would like to keep my readings under 120 most of the time, he said that was a bit to low. seems to me between 100 and 120 is where it should be most of my readings. all my morning readings is as follows. 191--153--177--151--104--149--137 In my opinion only once since I started the flex pen my reading was what he might call to low at 104 and to me it is ok. to day is only the seventh day on the insulin pen and he has all ready dropped my evening shot to 17. hoping you guys can help me to understand what he is maybe thinking to do this so soon. thanks. Guest guest
My indocrinologist is quite happy for me to have a glr between 80 and 180. My bedtime glr's usually run somewhere 200 up to 250, while my fasting glr's usually run around160 or so, which I think is too high, but my indocrinologist has not commented on these lately. Guest guest
Well, it seems to me that he is thinking the eening results are too low. It will be interesting to see how lowering that 3 units will do to your morning sugars. Basicall, with the insulin you are on, he is lowing the fast acting insulin 1 unit and the longer acting one 2 units. I wonder why he does not put you a long ancting insulin. It will mean more injections, but you can get better control. Guest guest
This is essentially what I was geting at. He should probably be using seperate pens, and not the mix. Guest guest
I know. I hate when doctors give a patient the 60-40 or 70-30 mix instead of teaching them how to use the long acting and short acting insulins. _____ From: blind-diabetics [mailto:blind-diabetics ] On Behalf Of dave Bond Sent: Thursday, March 15, 2012 11:43 AM To: blind-diabetics Subject: Re: evening shot lowered to 17 from 20 units.
