I heard a few days ago that one side effect of metformin is kidney problems.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this?

I am on metformin and would like to know thanks very much.

Hi Junior

Metformin does many wonders, and can cause alot of headaches..smile

if not monitered often.

I have been useing Metformin(1000mg)daily for the past 5years, and so far it's

been great,(my kidney)

I am a kidney transplant patient, and I have my Kreatnum checked every 3 months,

along with the A1c and the rest of the fun stuff,LOL

Metformin, may or may not cause some change to the kidney, each individual is

different, and like different drugs and medications, we all react differently at

times, so in saying this, I would have a heart to heart chat with my doctor and

share with him/her what your concerns are and the risk for you, as Junior, not

as a " patient in general "

remember when possible, it is your body and you need to do what is comfortable

for you, and if by chance this can not happen, then maybe there can be something

that can be talked about to reach a common ground.

I wish you the best, and hopefully I made a little sense, LOL
