Guest guest
I am finding shopping and eating out fun . . . kinda. Actually, it's stunning how small a portion of my food decision-making comes from my body. I stood in that cracker aisle for a full minute at least, wondering how to make a decision if I wasn't going to flip the box for nutritional info. I have a friend, who doesn't have big Eating Issues, who always asks what I'm hungry for when we go out to eat. HUH? I'm thinking about prince/nutrition/distance etc., not what actually sounds good. I'm pretty new to this - I haven't made it through the 4 CDs yet or read the book. > > Hi Bonnie, > > Sounds like you had a great time at the store! When I started my IE journey, I think the thing I really enjoyed the most about going shopping was the sense of freedom I felt. No more did I have to worry about the size of the bananas or which loaf of bread I bought because points didn't matter anymore. A wonderful feeling indeed knowing no food was off limits! > > Continued happy shopping! > > Jeanne >
Guest guest
I didn't realize there were CDs. I only looked up stuff online and got the one (older/original) book. I can see that more information and bibliographic support would be good though. Bonnie > > > > Hi Bonnie, > > > > Sounds like you had a great time at the store! Guest guest
Bonnie, I'm glad that you had a fun trip to the grocery store! Before, practicing IE, I had gotten to the point of hating going grocery shopping. I felt overwhelmed by all of the choices and I especially didn't like going at busier times. After starting IE, I got an idea to go to the grocery store when I didn't need any food and with no intention to buy anything. I would just meander around the store and look at the different foods and make peace/friends with grocery shopping. Since, then I've really had a lot of fun picking up foods that I like/love and go to the grocery store more often. I made a new friend lately who also has had a " hate affair " with the grocery store. I encouraged her to try the practice of just going to make peace and without out an intention to buy. I'm waiting back to hear about her experience. Guest guest
That is an interesting idea. I have a very close store now and we tend to go frequently for a few things at a time, so it would be interesting to check out certain isles and just see what I've ignored for years. When I'm not hungry though. Bonnie > > > > > > I just wandered the store and bought some things I really love to eat > > but haven't let myself or have been eating the ff or sf versions of. Guest guest
Hi , Needless to say once you read the book and/or listen to the CDs, you'll better understand the basic concepts of intuitive eating. Otherwise, it is kind of like going on a trip without a map to a place you've never been before. One of the principals of IE is discovering the satisfaction factor, so now I try to eat only those foods that I really want and enjoy. Besides nourishing, food and eating should also be enjoyable, so I'd like to encourage you to eat what actually sounds good to you. Best wishes and good luck on your IE journey, !
