Guest guest
Have you thought of psyillium husks powder? Suggest it to the dietician and see what she thinks. There is some carb content but I think it is mostly fiber..... not the absorbable type of carb. There are no sugars of any kind in it. The dietician would be able to calculate it in. It helps a lot with constipation, too. I use it in my daughter's meals sometimes.... to add a little bulk and thicken things like soups. It needs to be blended in and then sit a few minutes.... but only a small amount is needed. I use maybe 1/4 teaspoon or less for one of her meals. Re: Re:thickening liquids Hi all: I had been a member of this group back in the summertime, and am now again an active member since my son, Zach, age 6 years old, is going to start the diet really soon! I had my keto class at Children's Hopsital of Philadelphia last week, and am awaiting an admission date for Zach to get started. One important question, though, that has seemed to stump the dietician and is delaying the process right now. Zach does not have a feeding tube, but does have to eat all of his meals pureed. The problem we have here is that zach needs his liquids thickened--right now we use thick-it, which I know is not allowed on the diet. We need to find an alternative to thicken his liquids so that he will be able to get the proper amount of liquid. Any suggestions from the experts as to how we can thicken his liquids? Thanks all, I look forward to being an active member of this group again. _________________________________________________________________ Help STOP SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail " The Ketogenic Diet....a realistic treatment option, NOT just a last resort!
