Guest guest
Sammantha- I use Almay or Physicians Formula because they have no dyes, fragrances, alcohol, lanolin, etc. My eyes are very sensitive too and I use either Almay or Lancome mascarra. I know some of the other ladies use Dr. Sy's products and Clininque also. Good luck. PS I like Almay and Physicians because you can get the sample sizes and dont have to spend a lot of money if you dont like them. Physicians also has a green concealer for the redness and there is another color that is for dark circles under your eyes but I forget what color it is. They have these in the trial sizes also. I get mine at Wal marts. Good luck. Bobbye
Guest guest
My face is exquisitely sensitive and intolerant to just about everything. The only thing that actually feels good on my face is Neutrogena's Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup (foundation). Don't know what's in it, but it cools my skin. I don't have flaking, so I don't know how it will react to that. Carolyn Siesdi << For the women out there--does anyone have any recommendations for a brand of makeup, especially foundation? I have both rosacea and seborrheic dermatitis and usually I can't wear foundation because it will either seriously irritate my skin even more and/or cake because of the flaking. Just wondering...Thanks, >>
Guest guest
An excellent makeup for red sensitive skin is Amazing Base by Jane Iredale. You can find it at www.estheticsnw.com Its a foundation that goes on like a powder made of just inert minerals. Its dry - ingenius - so not any additives or preservatives. It looks great. I puff it on over my zinco or lotion. I LOVE it . Som others in the group use it, too. Guest guest
Hi , I have been using for about 6 months Dr. Sy's Liquid Foundation with great success. I have found that my skin tolerates it very well and it also looks better and wears better throughout the day than any other brand I've tried. It does, however, contain a chemical sunscreen (15 SPF), so if you are topically quite sensitive, I would try a test patch first. The great thing about this product is that you can order a sample size for 50-cents, which lasts forever. It comes in three shades: light, medium, dark...and two tones: Rose and Golden. Good Luck, Beth
Guest guest
There are a number of mineral makeups out there - powder form - most without any preservatives - great coverage. There is a website for one I've been using www.LaBellaDonna.com. I suggest anyone interested in buying this type of make up - Try to go to a store to get the color chosen for you or requests samples first. There are other mineral makeup companies - I've heard of Jerome , Good Earth and QVC carries one (though I can't remember the name). I found this makeup in the fall when I was having my first severe rosacea flareup. I couldn't tolerated anything. By the time I tried it, my face was quieting down and the mineral makeup felt soothing and calming. Now I am in the middle of a 2nd severe flare up and can't wear anything - can only tolerate vaseline. I am sure, when things start to heal, I'll be able to go back to the mineral makeup. They even have eye makeup in the mineral line. The conclusions I've reached from several weeks of reading emails is I will be able to tolerate topicals again, but it will take some type of laser surgery to get to this point. I am watching what I eat and trying very hard not to do anything that makes me flush so that my face heals. I miss my regular exercise, though. It's a shame we have to be so inactive in this phase! Anyone with any other suggestions?! All best, Patty
Guest guest
, I use the one that someone on this site recommended! Physicians Formula from Supercenter Wal-Mart. I love it! I was very hesitant at first because I have always spent lots of money at make-up counters - you know on the " good " make-up! What a waste. I even got comments on my make up this weekend from people who didn't even know I have " R " . The color I use is Sand Beige and I put it on with a sponge from Merle Norman. They have wonderful sponges! Other sponges don't even compare believe it or not. I am very satisfied with my skin right now especially since I took the advice from someone else on this site and starting using estee lauder tan for face. I couldn't stand my pale look and that was wonderful also. Good luck and let me know if you try it .
Guest guest
I don't mean to play devil's advocate, but I was wondering if any of this makeup that people have been recommending makes the flakes of seb derm go away. I remember when I had seb derm ( & didn't know it along with the rosacea) about ten years ago. Every makeup that I tried highlighted the flakes. Using powder only made it worse.
