Guest guest
I struggled for quite a long time with the fundamental belief that making money and helping others make money was unspiritual....I "tithed" to AA and fed and sheltered some of the people in those rooms...I even flew one member back from Arizona after she relapsed....you name it. At the time, I felt guilty about making money and I believed my career and the money I made was unspiritual so I literally gave it away to other people. I have a different perspective towards money now. Money is a means. It is not an end. There is nothing wrong with money, just my attitude towards money. I grew up poor and always felt ashamed of money..if I got it, I would waste it or give it away. Always. But, money is simply a tool and getting out in the real world and learning how to use money and show others how to use money is a gift. I recently read an article about Rock's (one of my favorite comedians) wife who uses her money and her time to go into the inner city and prepare women on welfare for job interviews, job skills, and how to manage their finances...etc. That is how she chooses to use her money and it sends ripples out into the waters of life...in a positive way. I cannot help but think that financial planning is similar. In my business, I have a few clients who take advantage of the services I provide....but the key behind my services...is my perception of what I am offering. For every seven who "use" me, there are three who benefit.....I personally love money as a means to reach people....some times I have it and some times I don't. I have seen the ultimate (and been there) in materialism...but now money is just a tool to greater understanding. I am slowly releasing my poverty mentality...in all areas of my life. That's just my observation and experience.
