Guest guest
Hi RAB, I was afar aid not to take the prednisone when my pulmonogist told me to, weight gain or not and have been on it for several months. And yes it did come with the puffin syndrome - I'm puffin everywhere. I'm changing to Methotrexate I believe in 4 to 6 weeks. Loosing height is usually attributed to osteoporosis, as I think some one else said, or stenosis, the narrowing of the spine. It would definitely be a good idea to get a bone density scan. There are meds you can take to slow it down and it can be crippling if not treated. You probably have a long way to go before death from sarc is a probability. Most people live a long, long time with sarc, some even have the symptoms go away, but you do need to follow you doctor's orders so it won't get worse. Weight gain smeight gain. People tell me it mostly goes away when you stop taking the Pred anyway. I don't know how old you are, but both of these conditions need taking care of. I have sarcoidosis and have seen what a major flare can do because I had one for most of the summer. Don't wait for one of those before you have it treated, please. What pain meds are you on now? What condition are they for - the fibro? I hope you feel better soon and get the thoughts of death out of your mind. Lots of good things are left to experience, particularly if you take your meds. You take care of yourself and let me know how you are doing, Marti Rex Burton wrote: am already at the predisone level myself, however because I had already known of the side effects of this med I told the pulmonary doc I did not want to take it, mainly due to the weight gain involved. I still do not want to take it, however I am also feeling the effects of Sarcoidosis mainly the lungs and the ongoing green stuff I keep coughing up every single day. My pain is increased in the joints and as I said in a previous posting I stated that I just found out that I lost an inch in my height. I do not know if it is related to sarc though, but something is wrong when a doctors office tells me I am at 72 " now rather than the previous 73 " I have been so used to the past twenty or so years. Another thing about Sarc is it makes you heal slower than normal. I know what it feels like to drown, but I never imagined it would be from my own fluids. If I am going to die from the SARC I prefer for my death to be a quick one and not have to suffer as all of us are now. Maybe it could also be the meds for pain I am taking. I do not know at this point and my VA docs are not the best at what they do or try to do. Oh well, I'll be waiting to see what happens. You take care of yourself ya hear?
