Guest guest
Hi Marti, I started gaining weight with the Paxil, and really gained when I was put on Prednisone. ugh! I'm weaning off the prednisone now, never really helped me, but I was put on it for polymyalgia. Poly is suppose to go away in a year or two, but my pain never did, after being on it for almost 4 yrs. So I recently switched Rh and got the FM dx. So with the prednisone soon in my past, and maybe having to switch anti-depressants, trying to get an idea of some that will work well and not put on weight. That's quite the combo you take. WOW hope just 1 will work for me. Thanks for your input Marti. Judy Marti Boguski wrote: Hi Judy and girlsaylor, I take Wellbutrin, Lexapro, Clonazepam, Geodon and Trazodone. It seems to be a good combo for me, even though it's a lot. I didn't start this particular " coctail " until last May and I don't have any complaints Now if one of these is making me gain weight, then I better stop blaming the Prednisone and decide if it's one of these because that is depressing. I guess they all work well for me, thankfully, and I just request the one that's cheapest on my current insurance drug list. I cannot maintain without the 20mg dosage of an antidepressant. Have tried 10mg and it doesn't do the trick for me. It truly must be a familial thing, as there is nobody in my immediate family who is not prone to depression. I choose to treat it and have a full life! girlsaylor My question is what are some of the anti-depressants some of you are on. What works well for you. The paxil has contributed to alot of weight gain for me, now that's depressing. lol > Judy > --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Yahoo! Guest guest
Hi Judy, You're welcome for the input. Happy to help where I can. I know I take a lot of stuff and would like to bring it down some, but I have not only depression/anxiety disorder but also DID, and PTSD. I took Paxil many years ago, but it didn't help me much. I had had a major depressive episode. That's when I switched to Wellbutrin. When Cymbalta came out I tried that because it is for pain also, but it made me nervous feeling inside. The Lexapro kicks the Wellbutrin up a notch. The Trazodone is for sleeping. The Geodon is more for the DID and PTSD and it wasn't added until this year, but has helped me immensely. It deals a lot with obsessive thinking; you know the thoughts that go around and round in your head and you can't turn them off, well I can now, or they don't come at all. So I guess I'm stuck with the " cocktail " for now. I take Prednisone for Sarcoidosis. I'm being weaned off right now and have about four or six more weeks. Then I start with Methotrexate. I had a major flare with sarcoid this past summer and the doctors are trying to keep it from recurring. Also I have it in my eyes as well as my lungs and it fights the inflammation there too. I don't know how well it is working, but I know I don't want to go through again what I went through for most of last summer. I also have bone lymphoma and the Pred and Methotrexate help that somewhat. Methotrexate is a cancer drug at certain doses. I have gained weight from taking the Pred. that's for sure. People tell me when they stop taking it the bloatedness (word?) goes away. I would really like that part at least. You know the girl in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory who eats a purple ball and blows up into a giant purple ball herself. Well that's who I feel like on this Pred. My glasses even cause creases in the side of my face. Socks leave marks on my legs. It's gross. I surely do hope your weight gain goes away when you stop the Pred.
