Guest guest
Marti how I wish I was up there in Connecticut with you! 15 inches of snow and blowing - I would love it. When I was younger, way back in my single days, I was a weather observer at the Hartford airport weather bureau. (Brainard field) I dearly loved the 2 years that I spent there and all the snow. Actually I was born in Bridgeport Connecticut. Having moved around the east and midwest a lot when I was single, I still love New England best. Sorry to hear you have pneumonia but don't blame you for wanting to keep out of the hospital. As long as you are able to fix healthy meals and I hope you have someone to shop for you. Hope you get your toilet fixed very soon. Please get well soon. Guest guest
Hi Margaret, Thanks for writing. I moved up here in 1982 from Georgia and cried for two years wanting to go back. My daughter was 8 and she cried for her friends for 6 mons. After a couple of years having a hard time making friends, which had always been so easy for me back home, I finally started making friends at PTA, church, and other things I joined. I also started my own business which kept me really busy and played lots and lots of tennis, meeting and making friends at both. I was divorced in 1995 and most people thought I would move back home, I had no desire to leave Connecticut. Of course my kids and grandkids are here too so that had something to do with it. But I really do love New England, all of it. I live in Glastonbury which is about 20 minutes from what is now Hartford International Airport. It has really changed, but is still a nice smaller airport to travel from. My son lives in Boston and flies out of Logan to go anywhere. I much prefer the smaller. I wish you were up here with me too. I'd have someone to be snowed in with. Although I have someone who clears my driveway, my car is sitting outside and I of course don't have the energy, or the height, to clean it off. But as my daughter Andi said " you don't need to go anywhere anyway! " Children tend to get bossy when they are grown. But she's right as long as I have this pneumonia. It's particularly dangerous for me because I have sarcoidosis in my lungs and it makes it affect my breathing even more. I've started having my groceries delivered. Stop & Shop up here lets you order your groceries on line and have them delivered at the time you specify. It costs $6.95, but if you pick an off time they take $1.50 off so it's really not bad. They have the same weekly flyer on line and you can give your coupons to the person who delivers them. I had to give up going to the grocery store, because after shopping I couldn't even put the stuff away. I still get worn out just putting them away. When my kids would come home from school when they were in high school and I still did everything, if I was laying on the sofa, they would also know I had been grocery shopping. Thank you so much for the warm wishes. It means a lot to me. Marti Marti how I wish I was up there in Connecticut with you! 15 inches of snow and blowing - I would love it. Guest guest
Gosh that is funny. Pretty good for an 8 year old. My 6 year old grandson's jokes don't make any sense yet, but hopefully soon he'll catch on. Thanks for sharing, Marti wrote: He is looking for Pooh, lol Marti Boguski wrote: Why?
