Guest guest
Michele, Hang in there. You have every right at this stage in the game to experience whatever emotions come. Sorry it was rough, I was actually wondering where you were this morning. Glad you are back. Wendi http://www.lactivist.com breastfeeding info & resources I've been MIA -long I had a very rough Wednesday, it was my emotional breaking point, spent most of the day crying and when came home after work and I realized he STILL hadn't talked to his boss about a loan that was it. I barely spoke to him all night and I slept in Arran's room in the extra bed so I could cry myself to sleep without anyone bothering me. I did get a lot of cleaning done during the day though. Guest guest
Thanks Wendi :-) just got home and said he talked to his boss about the loan and he is going to think about it over the weekend, just our luck it's a long weekend *sigh* asked him of they could talk about it on Tues. before he goes away for a few days. Totally off topic, another thing we have to think about this weekend, we have a Meningitis outbreak here in Edmonton and we have to think about whether we are going to vaccinate the kids. The health department has started a huge vaccination campaign, last week it was only ages 15-19 but now a 4 y/o has gotten it and they have extended the age group to 2-19.....it's totally voluntary but I do want to read more about it before I decide whether to go ahead. I'm sort of sitting on the fence right now, meningitis scares the hell out of me but I don't want to vaccinate them without learning the facts. I see so many parents on the news who didn't even think about it, just saying " of course we doing it! " says he trusts my judgement about these things because he knows I read about it. Know of any good links pro or con???? My kids are vaccinated except for CP ;-) Michele Michele, Hang in there. You have every right at this stage in the game to experience whatever emotions come. Guest guest
Michele, What is the vaccine? Is it the HIB? or something different? Wishing you luck with the loan. Let me know about the vaccine and I will see what I can find. Guest guest
It's not the HIB, my kids have that already. This is I think, a bacterial meningitis outbreak. Problem is the news only says " meningitis " they don't say which strain. I did read a post tonight at Today's Parent online about how this vaccine is less effective every time you get it so if I give it to my kids now (when I don't think they are really at risk) and then at a later date there is an outbreak at their school, then it may not be as effective. This person said that this vaccine should be used sparingly. So this is definitely on my mind and I'm leaning towards not getting them vaccinated right now but I'm still going to read a lot about it this weekend. Michele Michele, What is the vaccine? Guest guest
I think it is Meningococcal meningitis which is bacterial. The symptoms match and they are being treated with antibiotics. We've had 18 cases in and around Edmonton (a small city) so far this year with one death (15 y/o girl). They've never had an outbreak like this here before and never had a vaccination campaign for it. What is scary is that the girl died so quickly. Because the first cases were all teenagers the health authority was only recommending kids aged 15-19 get vaccinated. But then a 4 y/o girl got it and parents started insisting that they expand the age group (to pay for the vaccine) so they lowered it to 2 years, under 2 the vaccine isn't effective. There is also a 25 y/o with it but the vaccine isn't that effective in adults. Still haven't found much about it...
