Guest guest
URSO probably won't improve INR, albumin/protein, Pro-time or creatinine. So it shouldn't affect those parts of the determination of the MELD score. Since no study has proven that URSO delays liver failure or delays time to transplantation it's unlikely that it reduces liver inflammation totally. It does seem to improve LFTs but not the one's above. Prior to my tx I thought URSO was helping my itching, but who really knows. I think that pruritis is much more complex than we know. Otherwise why would itching be less when my bilirubin was sky high in the last months prior to my tx? Can't fathom why this was so. My sympathies to Ken about both the itching and the charcoal. Difficult to get anyone to take that more than once. We used to use it in the ER when people overdosed. Most of the time they wouldn't drink it; so we had to put in a nasogastric tube and get it in that way. Of course, it often came right back up and that stuff permanently stains everything it touches.
