Guest guest
Donna, Welcome! I think as time goes on, even when you are over 50, your energy levels will increase. Atkins has been so energizing for me. I'm sure you'll hear many other glowing testimonials about how this WOE has revitalized the lives of so many people, but for now, I'll just reiterate a quick "howdy" and leave the others to tell you some of their stories. Guest guest
Carol, you need to really avoid breads, etc during the first two weeks. The cravings will subside. Try tuna fish salad. I find it to be a real craving cutter. Also salads are really nice too. After the two weeks, you can find the low carb breads at many sites on the internet and many cities health stores now carry them. nne >>> Clutter38@... 08/15 2:48 PM >>> my dh and myself are new to the atkin diet thing it is our third day, what a 3 days it has been My dh needs to lose about 60 lbs and i only need to lose about 20 but I am on the diet for health reasons to. in December the doctor told me i had to watch my sugar and cholesterol well the atkins diet is suppose to help those things I thought we would try it. The problem I have never been a big meat eater liked the potos, pasta and bread so I still am not eating alot of meat and in the evening I feel like i am starved really craving the carbs, is there recipes for bread with low carbs thats easy to make? any and all advice accepted. HELP. Carol
Guest guest
Hi Carol, First- the first 2 weeks are like boot camp. It's HARD! You'll have headaches, diarhea, you'll go nuts. But wait; the best is yet to come. You don't like meat? Try fish- it's great! Or eggs- lot's to do with them. There's chicken- a wonder food! And then you get the luscious goodies: nuts and cheese! But seriously- remember to drink your water! And maybe you don't like meat because you're so used to carbs. Carbs and starches can be an addiction. But there's nothing more satisfying now than a good steak, or a broiled pork chop, or grilled salmon. I've been on this WOE since the end of June, and I feel so much more comfortable now. Try to get some Atkin's shake mix. Follow the directions, but add a few ice cubes and a quarter cup of heavy cream to blender. It's excellent, it fills you up, and satisfies some kind of sweet craving. And don't give up. Don't fall for the diet soft drink trap. I unthinkingly drank 3 diet pepsis in one day and went off ketosis. Hang in there. This is the best WOe ever. Guest guest
Welcome Gemmie! Looking forward to getting to know you. in Virginia 299/226/150 Lap RNY: 5/3/06 Newbie Hi All I am new, I begun this process in Jan 06. I saw my surgeon on the 31 August 06 and I am now awaiting his nurse to call me to set up my surgury date, which I am figuring probably mid November 06. I am very excited, the process has been long, and took me many years to concede to this is what it is going to take to overcome obesity. I understand my commitment and the necessary life changes I have to make, and I am making. However the support of others going or have gone through this process, I feel is essential to my outcome and well being. I started at 298 lbs, I am now weighing in at 275lbs. I keep going back and forth 5 lbs or less which is very disturbing, because my doctor if you gain a pound wont do the surgury. So I feel so stressed and just cant wait to get the surgury so I can relax, I know I have to still watch what I eat but I wont have to be so worried about being delayed, I have worked so hard to get here. I am having the gastric bipass laprascopic surgury. I have not always been over weight, I gained the first 60 lbs after a hysterectomy at age 36 and then my middle son died in 2002 and I put on another 60 lbs. I do realize inactivity, soda, fast food, depression also contributed to the weight gain. I am 47 years old, I have three children, all boys, all adults. I am single and I work in the travel industry. I look forward to sharing and getting to know you all! And beginning my new life!! Guest guest
Hi Debi Thank you! Im excited about finding out more from the people who have already went through the surgury. Alot of people at work have had it done, and I hear alittle here in there, but in the environment we work in their isnt much time to chat about it, so I need to network and get to know what to expect, what other people are doing to make it work, tips. Share frustrations, and accomplishments! Thank you for welcoming me!! Look forward to getting to know you better. Kellie 298/275/140 > > > Hi All > > > > I am new, I begun this process in Jan 06. Guest guest
Welcome, Ruthie! Ibuprofen does very little for me. I have to take aleve or on the really bad days, I'll take prescription strength. Ruthie wrote: > Greetings, > > Ruthie, Female, 62, diagnosed (finally).
