Shingles is from the same virus as chicken pox and it affects the nerves. I

don't think you can get Shingles if you never had the chicken pox. It

follows one or more nerve paths, that is why people often have it in a line

around their chest, etc. I never heard of a relationship to rosacea.

shingles?

For what it is worth I was told by a doctor that a person can get

Shingles even if they have had chicken pox. He said Shingles can

happen if your immune system is unhappy and weakened for some reason.

I had shingles, just on my back, (following a nerve pathway) in 1989

or 1990. At that time, I also had face flushing for the first time.

But no remaining redness in the face once a flush episode was over.

And the flushing episodes left when the shingles attack was over. No

flushing, that I recall, or that was noticable enough to make me

think anything was going on, for about 8 years.

Then I had a very serious case of shingles come on suddenly, out of

the blue, when I was in great health (or so it seemed like I was)on

both forearms, my back, and both of my front hip bones. It even got

up on my neck and one or two bumps just breifly on my face. This was

1 1/2 years ago. That was when my Roscacea, permanent face rednes,

flushing and burning started. Also my overall body burning started!I

was told at that time that the burning sensation was the damaged

nervous ssytem (shingles can cause nerve damage with nerve pain that

is a burning sensation for years after an attack)

However, it could just be a coincidence. Haven't found a doctor who

has a clue when I ask them. They also don't know why the second

episode of shingles happened. The first was understandable it was

during the onset of a serious illness and my immune system was very

stressed.
