Guest guest
I have never had one but I have seen many patients that had them when I worked on a cardiac floor as a nurse. Please bear in mind that though it sounds scary, many many people have them done everyday and the great majority go through them without any problems. I know it does not really help much to say that. I mean, when it is YOUR body, it is always scary. Take care, hugs, Debra V. john honeycutt wrote: Girlsaylor I have had the heart cath and it wasn't as aweful as you might think. I have restrictive cardiomyopathy, my heart is shrinking but w/the meds I'm currently taking I no longer have chest pains and the shortness of breath doesn't seem to be as bad as it was 4 yrs. ago when I had the procedure done. You are in my prayers as well as the technicians preforming the procedure. May GOD Bless YOU ! ! ! . . ........................ . . . I don't know why I'm undone over this one, as I've gone through so much health stuff. Nurse will call me week of the procedure to discuss meds, prep, whatever. I'll have to take my bipap in to get clearance to have it in the hospital, as doc said I should plan to be in overnight, given my lung disease. But if I've got blockage anywhere, maybe this will take care of it...Today I was so tired. Took the car in to the shop early this AM, shot half a day doing that. Slept a couple of hours and then gave my cat a much-needed bath. He looks pretty silly right now! Made dinner for hubby and washed up dishes, then watching movie with DH. I could go to bed right now and probably sleep through the night, I'm so tired. Maybe low oxygen, at least that's what they're hoping to rule out with the cath.girlsaylor __________________________________________________________ Connect and share in new ways with Windows Live. http://www.windowslive.com/share.html?ocid=TXT_TAGHM_Wave2_sharelife_012008
Guest guest
Thanks Debra, I know it's really usually a walk in the park, so to speak. I guess it's just the unknown that's got me frazzled. I mean, I can bear all sorts of adversity if I know what's going on and there's a logical course of action. But this body is anything but logical! girlsaylor > > I have never had one but I have seen many patients that had them when I worked on a cardiac floor as a nurse. > Please bear in mind that though it sounds scary, many many people have them done everyday and the great majority go through them without any problems. Guest guest
Hey Sweetie, I just wanted to give you a little support. I know how scary this procedure is. I had it done early last year. Once the had given me some meds to calm me it was really kinda cool. Believe it or not I got to watch the cath go through my heart. It was just amazing to see my heart beat as they worked on me. I ended up having two blockages that were 40% so they didn't do anything. If they had been 70% they would have put in a stint while I was on the table but it would not require any new incisions. They could have done it through the same opening they used for the cath. NOW... my biggest problem with the whole thing was the 8 hours flat on my back afterwards. I don't know if they have told you that part or not but for the 8 hours you are in recovery you can not move. If I had known up front I would have asked for my pain meds prior to surgery so I could have been ready for the 8 hours. If you have any questions please feel free to holler! I'm an expert on this as my brother has had triple bypass and then 20 years later they had to go in and clear the original blockages because the bypass clogged. I've been with him many many times when he had caths. Soft hugs, Angelia mom to , wife to Kerry **************Start the year off right. Guest guest
Hi Angelia, Thanks for the nice note. I know in my brain it's gonna be fine. My emotions are frayed tho. Because my family history is so scarey. I would like to watch the procedure, but doc says I'll be out for it...not really sure why he's doing it that way unless he's more comfortable with me being on breathing support for my lung disease?... girlsaylor > > Hey Sweetie, > > I just wanted to give you a little support.
