Guest guest
I am tired of being sick and hurting so much lately. Must be a bad bug going around b/c herbal said she is sick again, like I am. Now, have another sinus infection and my doctor gave me Augmentin for it. Have to take that for 3 weeks. Also have chronic stomach pain and heartburn. Played phone tag with my gastro office but they didn't call back. Sinus headache is making me nauseated which doesn't help. Also feel like someone beat me up. Just want to curl up and sleep. Debbie J
Guest guest
Debbie and to anyone else who suffers from sinus troubles, I am prone to chronic sinus infections too, but last year I was watching Oprah and this particular day Dr. Oz was on talking about little things we can do to help ourselves feel better. He showed this girl using a Neti Pot to clean out her nasal passages (Nasal Irrigation.) It looks pretty much like a little tea pot with a long spout. Well this got my attention, so I went out and bought one. It takes a little practice to get it just right, but since I started using it I've not had one sinus infection. It does such a remarkable job at cleaning things out and you will be amazed at how much better you can breathe through your nose. You can Google Neti Pot on the Internet and find out a bunch of information on this wonderful little thing. I got mine at a health food store, but you can also purchase them on line. Guest guest
Neti pot is awesome for helping prevent sinus issues. I also wanted to recommend this little thing that saved me after a six month long ordeal with the worst sinus infection I've ever had. It's called SaltAire Sinus Wash, http://www.saltairesinusrelief.com/ and once you get the little dispenser you can mix your own. I flush my sinuses every single day, otherwise I'd have sinus infections maybe four times a year. I also mix my own saline and add a little alkalol. Here is what alkalol is, I swear by this stuff: http://www.alkalolcompany.com/ I haven't had a full blown sinus infection since I started flushing/irritating daily. gbinette wrote: > Debbie and to anyone else who suffers from sinus troubles, > > I am prone to chronic sinus infections too, but last year I was watching > Oprah and this particular day Dr. Oz was on talking about little things we > can do to help ourselves feel better. Guest guest
Thanks for the tip Melody. I use Ayr Flush pack daily. It comes with a syringe and several saline mix packets. Always boil the water prior to using it. When I have a sinus headache I flush my nose twice in one day. The Biaxin I took last month probably didn't get rid of the bug. Hopefully the Augmentin will help. Debbie J > > > > >
Guest guest
Thanks for telling me about the Neti pot also Gail. Kind of looks odd for a flushing thing but sounds like it helps. My Ayr flush kit usually works real well too. Debbie J >
Guest guest
Thank you Debra V. Too bad you aren't feeling too good now also. Hope you don't catch this bug going around. Try to relax at least while you can. love, Debbie J > I am tired of being sick and hurting so much lately. Must be a bad bug > going around b/c herbal said she is sick again, like I am. Guest guest
Hi Gail, It's funny you should talk about Neti pots today. My son and I have chronic sinus problems and he told me about the Neti pot. We started to get one for each of us, but decided on the squeeze bottle instead. It's a little easier to use for me. I would just pour the stuff everywhere tilting my head trying the Netti pot. I love these things. They have helped me immensely. Guest guest
Hi Debbie, I can sympathize. Just getting over pneumonia and sinus infection. It's the pits. Sorry your sick. I hope you are well soon and that the Augmentin works. Marti deebs87 wrote: Thanks for the tip Melody. I use Ayr Flush pack daily. It comes with a syringe and several saline mix packets. Guest guest
I use bottle water, ozarka. Never tap, as our tap has chlorine in it. Yes I have been flushing several times a day and all this ucky gunk keeps coming out but does it ever end? Antibiotics didn't really cure me when I had the worst sinus infection ever. It took six months, three rounds of antibiotics, plus steroids, decongestants and then I started flushing the sinuses. Only then did the stuff start finally coming out. I couldn't believe that was up in there, I've never seen anything like it. It was awful. Sister had to have sinus surgery for hers, it got so bad. I didn't want to have to go through what she did. deebs87 wrote: > Thanks for the tip Melody. I use Ayr Flush pack daily. It comes with > a syringe and several saline mix packets. Guest guest
Same here. The squeeze bottle goes much deeper, which is where my problems are - way deep into the sinuses. I get sinus headaches all the way up above my eyes, and a neti pot would not flush that deep. I put my head upside down sometimes and let the saline go way deep to try and flush out way up in there. Guest guest
Since we have spare bottle water my try using some of it up. Surprised what came out when I flushed my nose earlier today. Had sinus surgery several years ago so have to constantly flush my sinuses at least each day to keep them moistened. Debbie J > > I use bottle water, ozarka. Guest guest
Sorry you are feeling so lousy. I was yesterday also, so got behind again on messages. I found 2 old hydrocodone to take for my back pain and slept most of the day away. It seemed to help. I pray you feel better soon. Jeanne in WI >I am tired of being sick and hurting so much lately. Guest guest
I'm sorry you are feeling so badly. I just finished 3 weeks of Augmentin for a sinus infection along with some other drug I forgot for the pneumonia. I think they drag me down energy wise even more while I'm taking them - maybe because they are fighting the illness. I am feeling like I was hit by a mac truck too. And I'm down in the dumps on top of it all. So you have my empathy as well as my sympathy. Hope you feel better soon. Marti deebs87 wrote: I am tired of being sick and hurting so much lately. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr.
