Why are they inducing her? This doesn't make any sense. A lot of

women are dilated a month or so before they give birth. (although

admittedly, no one wants to see someone dilated that much) I had a

client who was 4 cms. dilated at 6 months and she went overdue by two

weeks! Is her blood pressure rising or something?

They told her that she was in active labor since she was dilated more than 3

cm. I don't know alot about this since I missed my birthing class. I think

they want to schedule this during the day since more people are on staff.

I'll know more this afternoon.

They're probably going to break her bag of water (they considering

that inducing) At least that's what they did with me.

,

I ws born in 1971 at 4lbs, 4oz a month early and stayed in the hospital for

one month ONLY to be under constant supervision by nurses " just in case " .

It IS possible to have a perfectly healthy baby a few weeks early and few oz

short of 5lbs...do you think it will help her to know that?

I hope so.

Yes it did. The baby was 4 pounds 13 ounces and didn't even need neonatal.

We are all relieved and happy. She did get there too late for the epidoral

though for the second time. :( I'm so proud of her. We are going up to the

hospital tomorrow with balloons and I'm making her a little package of lotion

and primping stuff.

Then I'm going to her house to see what stuff she didn't finish getting

cleaned up.

My best friend is due with her second child January 13th. She started

dilating last month. They did another exam today and an ultrasound. The

baby is only 4 1/2 pounds but she is over 4 inches dilated. If she doesn't

go tonight they will induce her tomorrow. If you would all put her in your

prayers, light candles etc. I would be really grateful. And a few chants for

a healthy baby would be great as well.

Thanks

I thought I'd respond to this only because n was born 3 1/2 months

early and we saw a lot of preemies come and go in the neonatal icu. Most

preemies born within a few weeks of their due dates don't even go to the nicu

and are healthy enough to go home with their mothers ( barring any other

complications). Weight isn't even really a factor anymore. n was almost

5 pounds when he was able to finally come home but he had a lot of

complications. We saw babies as low as 3 1/2 pounds go home though.

I got you beat Penny. I was also born in 1965, but I was a twin (she didn't

survive) and was barely 3#.

I'm here too! :-)

Btw, weighed in at a whole 5# 1oz and was 16 1/2 inches long.

Wow!

We learn more about ellen....

A twin.

I just watched a program on twins who's twin did not survive.

Do you feel any connection?

Tell me to shut up if I'm too nosey.

And YES let's get together sometime during break!

I know, easier said than done.

Nope, weight isn't a factor.

My twins were born 5 weeks early. was about 4lbs 6oz when she

went home, and Jordan was about 3lbs 15oz when he went home. Weight was

not a factor in them being discharged ... they needed to be able to

sustain their own body temperature, breathe room air, and be able to

feed well enough to gain weight. Their feeding goal every three hours

was 1 oz ... actually we measured it in cc's ... we used these tiny

little 2 oz bottles that looked like double shotglasses, lol.

Anyways, I hope your friend and her baby are doing really well.

He's back in neo natal waiting for a step G test to be done. He is sweet

though.

My husband has already warned me about babyitis. I have assured him that I

am babyitis free. (After Monday he's off for two weeks so I'm hoping for a

little action LOL).

Tests on babys blood are due back today so I'll be calling to check on that

in a few minutes. We're shooting for Tuesday if all goes well. He's gaining

weight. I'm planning a big TO DO her dad came up for an hour and her mom

didn't come up at all. I'm really ticked about that.

That's really rough. n spent 74 days in nicu and my dad kept calling

saying he was comming to visit and never came once. It really hurt. I'm sure

your friendship means the world to your friend right now.
