Guest guest
Hey , I have had fibro. for more than 10 yrs. and am now missing at least 4 teeth that got so bad they had to be pulled and others that are also breaking apart or small pieces crumbling. Thank goodness none are in the front at least not yet. I am also 47 and will probably need some kinda bought teeth soon. I am wondering if this is making my teeth soften what in the world could be going on inside my body from this monster. It is scary thought. Jodi M. Guest guest
I am so glad for you Debbie. I cannot say for sure that it is fibro related. I suspect it can be though. I believe that FM has different causes to some extent in different people. Maybe the ones of us with the tooth problems have some deficiency we are not aware of. love and hugs to ya Debbie, Debra V. deebs87 wrote: I have had fibro almost 20 years now and never had any breaking problem with my teeth. Guest guest
I have awesome teeth. I have had cavities my whole life but still have all my healthy teeth except the wisdom teeth. The only one that ever crumbled was the top left wisdom tooth from the inability to cram the tooth brush far back enough to clean it. It got a cavity and after years and years, it finally started to crumble. I do get cavities now and then, but have all my whole teeth for the most part. Sister has fibro, she's 39 on the 10th and has never ever had a cavity to this day. Guest guest
I was blessed with good teeth as well. I had many small cavities in childhood, but I never needed novacaine and they weren't a big deal getting drilled. Although, I do have blurry traumatic memories of a nightmare first dentist appt. when I was like 3. Anyhow, now as an adult, I haven't had any new cavities since my teens. I had an old cavity that had to be redrilled and the tooth capped, but that's the worst thing. I recently went for a cleaning after 2 years without any professional visits, and in spite of only sporadic brushing at home, I did not have any cavities. I was shocked and amazed. Anyway, I do get teeth pain from time to time, and recently read that this can be from MPS, so I think that must be what it is, at least in my case. Guest guest
Weird how one thing can make so many other things begin to go wrong. My mom told me the reason I have a tummy ache is because my sinuses are draining down...into my stomach fluids. Ear ache usually comes with a toothache for me, and sinus headache usually I get the sniffles, stuffed up nose, or sneezing and so much pressure on my head, I feel as if it is going to burst. Hope you get to feeling better...I just dealt with a small dose of whatever s going around. Gentle hugs, K. -- Re: Teeth Question.... That's what I have now. Guest guest
OMG. Yes. In fact this weekend I had to have a false tooth put in my upper front b/c I lost that tooth to complete decay. I am also 42, and my teeth have been going downhill since I was in my 20's. I have gotten to the point where I also think that replacing all my remaining teeth might be a better idea instead of waiting for them to fall apart. I no longer eat hard, crunchy foods for the fear of breaking yet another tooth. I really hate this aspect of Fibro because it affects my self-esteem worse than anything. Guest guest
Getting my teeth pulled was the answer to my TMJ. I have had TMJ problems sense I was about 5 and my teeth would always chip and break. I finally had all of my top teeth removed back in Sept.07 it was the first time I could remember not being in pain when I chewed. I've read somewhere that TMJ affects alot of people with fibro, that kind of makes sense, I've always been in one kind of pain or another. I got my 1rst ulcer at 12 then ovarian cysts, then endometriosis, yadda yadda yadda I think I just got used to the idea of being in pain.....and then it got worse wrote: > > Make sure you exclude TMJ before you rip anymore teeth out they may not be the reason why your teeth are in such a bad shape. > > > > Re: Re: Teeth Question.... > > Hi,everyone dont feel bad, im 29 and missing the " eye " teeth and 2 or 3 > behind it on the top. Guest guest
I do know that my teeth have started crumbling the last 4 or 5 years..... also about the same time the fibro moved in full blast. I know in my heart that it has something to do with FM. Someday they will make a discovery. love and hugs, Debra V. wrote: Getting my teeth pulled was the answer to my TMJ. Guest guest
See, this is another thing where not all of us have this problem. Some people are born with good teeth genes and others aren't. I have great teeth, for now at least, and I'm 44. I've only had one crown put on and that was 6-8 years ago. I am very sensitive to drilling, though. It seems like the novicaine doesn't work, or my dentists don't know how to inject the right spot. Ouch. Jeanne in WI > OMG. Yes. Guest guest
I have fibro and perfect teeth. Sister has fibro and even better teeth than I do - age 39 and no cavities ever. My friend has fibro and also perfect teeth. Mom too, perfect teeth. Mom's cousin Danna, perfect teeth. debra van ness wrote: > I do know that my teeth have started crumbling the last 4 or 5 years..... also about the same time the fibro moved in full blast. Guest guest
I've never heard of anyone thinking fibro causes bad teeth til I came here. I never heard of it at all, not on any of those fibro websites or anywhere. I too have excellent teeth, it just runs in my family. Hubby has worse teeth than I do but he sees the dentist regularly so he can keep all of his. Otherwise periodontal disease was threatening to take his.
