Re: just an update... damn the pain!-- and a question

Have you tried regular aspirin for the tendon pain? It works a lot better for

inflammation than ibuprofen or naproxen IMHO. Have you had a doctor check you

for tendonitis? If you have that, then there are meds that can help.

I know how you feel, taking all those meds together in desperation. When I had

my other doctor who refused to treat my pain, I was literally taking Excedrins

and ibuprofens by the handfuls every few hours. I knew how dangerous it could

be, but I was so desperate for relief I didn't even care!!!

I woke up this morning flaring as well. It feels like I just got over the last

one, which lasted over 6 weeks, BTW. I will feel like doing something drastic

myself if this one lasts that long!! Of course, as usual while flaring, none of

my meds are working at all. I might as well be taking placebos. I cannot wait to

at least try the Lyrica. I will be able to do that very soon hopefully. My

daughter is supposed to return from Boston on the 3rd. I hope she gets back in

time, and that she is able to come here after resting up herself for a day or

so, she can continue to rest at my house. I just need her to be here, and if I

don't have any super bad reactions, she and I can do things together when she

feels like it, as long as she drives!! I actually think starting Lyrica in the

midst of a flare would be like the 'acid test' for its' effectiveness. Of

course, I've heard lots of people say they think it might feel like an actual

'acid' trip...oh well.

yep, the leg thing is a total pain in the -----. I

feel the same way and shuffle at times just to keep

from pain. I heat towels in the microwave and wrap

them around my feet and lower legs when it is bad.

I feel for your Debra , just try and hang in there.

I know I am new to the list but I already feel

welcomed.

I'm so sorry you all have such bad leg and foot pain. I am lucky that I do not

have pain there. Have you tried those bed buddies that you heat in the

microwave? I wish I could be of more help. I hope it lessens greatly soon.

> Debra, I am not certain if the pains that I sometimes get while

walking on certain surfaces are similar to what you are describing or

not! But I thought that for the most part, I had found a solution to

the problem that I have had for a number of years. It doesn't happen

all of the time, but prior to getting supports from a store called

The Good Feet Store, I could walk into some stores and would have a

leg and foot become numb after walking just a few feet into the

store. I thought the problem had been eliminated for the most part

with these expensive supports, but discovered while one of my aunts

was giving us the tour this past Saturday of the nursing home where

she is now living; that once we returned to her room, my left foot

and leg had begun to develop the pain. It was not as severe as it

had been in the past but I certainly was aware of the tingling in my

foot and could feel it slowly working it's way up my left leg. My

aunt has to wear a certain style of Keds so that she does not slip on

the floors --- the ones she wears are the ones that have laces that

curl. What I think her problem must be is that, should she wear

other shoes, she might slip more easily.

Oh, and I tried the Salonpas (sp?) while we were travelling back in

October only to discover that, because the pain was in my cervical

spine, they would not adhere to that area because of my stupid

hairline!!!! I guess we win some battles only to lose others!!

Good night, sleep tight, and God Bless Us All,

They're cushions and even 'belts' (back buddies) of various shapes and sizes

filled with rice, corn, flaxseed, etc. that can be warmed in the microwave and

used on various parts of the body to supply heat and relief to places that hurt!

I have a large collection myself, as do many of us here. I also have herbs or

other aromatics in many of mine to provide aromatherapy along with the heat.

They are one of the best 'medicines' we can use!! I love mine. They are easy to

make, or easily available in stores or online. I use the 'back buddies' while at

the computer, as they go around my lower back and fasten in front to hold them

on. That is one of my major 'hot spots'. I often would not be able to sit at the

computer without them.

Peace and Love
