Guest guest
I work for the government. I do not have people that work for me. I do my job myself. My boss is in a building 15 minutes from me. There are people from other departments in the building that I work in, so they see when I am late, etc. My doctor decided yesterday to put me back on amitriptyline (sp?). I know this medication is going to make me sleepy, but when I was on it before, I don't remember if it made me groggy in the morning or not. Do I need to tell my boss what's going on with me and that there are some mornings I hurt so bad that it takes me longer than normal to get ready? Do I need to let him know about my diagnosis? I don't want to get into trouble at work, but no matter what I do I can only make it to work on time maybe 2 times a week. I'm not lazy and I don't want him to think that. Should I talk to a few of the ladies in the building I work in so they understand why I am late? I don't know if they would tell anyone that I am late all the time or not. Thanks! Guest guest
The amitriptyline may make you dopey. I had to start taking 1/2 pill if I wanted to feel safe driving and be alert but it did help. My body did get used to it and it helps when I need it. I don't know your boss but maybe the best thing to do would be to sit down and talk. As long as you do your job and it doesn't depend on arriving at a set time then maybe you can work together on something that works better with how the fibro is affecting you. If you did get in trouble the I would say that is discrimination and that is a no-no esp. in government. Neda > I work for the government. I do not have people that work for me. I > do my job myself. Guest guest
Well I don't work for the government but I did set my general manager and sales manager down and explained to them how hard it is for me to get going in the morning. Not to mention I have an hour's drive to work. They were very understanding and I really do not have a set time that I have to be at work... it can range anywhere from 8 am to 9:30 am. They know that I will do whatever I have to to get my job done (i.e., work through lunch, a little late in the evenings, from home,). I say be upfront and let your boss know. It would be easier than trying to explain it away after he has already made up his mind that you are slacking. lisa n.
Guest guest
Telling is risky, . Start back on the amytriptalene at a low dose and see how it goes. If you told anyone, I would say the boss would be the right person. The other coworkers may not be trustworthy. I hope you get better sleep and no groggy morning affects. Take care. Guest guest
I told the people at work. I wish I never had. They might pretend they care now and then; but instead they literally " went after " me. The director told my previous manager to get rid of me. He left. Then my new manager started conspiring with the director to do just that. Hence, I'm not working anymore. Guest guest
, I don't know about your boss but my hubby is the boss at his place of business. He had a lady come to him and ask if she could come in late on bad days. He ended up letting her come in late and not take lunch. He knows how stiff and sore I am in the morning so he kind of understands. I don't know if he would have if he had not been married to a person with this problem. As for the amytriptiline(can't spell that one) I have taken it for a long time. I take 300 milligrams at bedtime. I have found that you should take it an hour to 2 hours before you are ready to go to bed. I don't seem as drowsy in the morning when I do that. It take me that long to unwind and get sleepy. Hope that helps a little. Donna from Tex ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Never miss a thing.
