Guest guest
I am back on estrogeon therapy. I was on it in my forties and now that I look back, my rosacea did get worse. I am 53 now, and had been off it for about 2 years before going back on the estrogeon. The rosacea stayed the same; Noritate just aggrivated it; also, high dosages of antibiotics scared me; I only took them for a few months. I am returning to the dermatologist soon to see what he says I have been back on it for about one month but I have to say I feel much better, The hot flashes alone are enough trigger major eruptions. My rosacea is about the same. This is the first I heard of the link. It is really upsetting since I am high risk for osteoporous, and am also in the pre stages of it. I will probably be getting on Fosamax, too. I am terrified of the osteo, my Mom is going by inches and is homebound and crippled and in constant pain from it and has lost about 6'' in height. I should exercise, but it makes me flush more. (lazy rosacean excuse) Any one out there know of any good osteo support like the rosacea? (although the emails will probably crash my computer) How severe is the link? God, you feel like you cannot win sometimes. The estrogeon reallly makes me feel better emotionally, and I am more mentally alert than I had been. Any help out there would be appreciated
Guest guest
I had not heard that estrogen makes rosacea worse. What is the source of this information and what is the medical basis behind it? I'm especially interested since I have been on estrogen for 9 months. a estrogen >Since estrogen seems to make rosacea worse, does anyone have any >information about what women with rosacea should do if they are >considering hormone replacement therapy following menopause? > >Chris > > > >-------------------------------------------------------- >Please read the list highlights thoroughly before posting to the whole group. see http://rosacea.ii.net/toc.html > >When replying, please delete all text at the end of your email that isn't necessary for your message. > >To leave the list send an email to rosacea-support-unsubscribeegroups >
Guest guest
I thought that estrogen made rosacea better? I was recently pregnant (and nursing), and my skin was better during that time. I guess, once again, we're all different. Makes it tough to solve this mystery! a Tietz wrote: > > I had not heard that estrogen makes rosacea worse. Guest guest
Ellannie, Life is a balancing act. At the risk of sounding preachy, may I give the ff. suggestions: 1) Accept the fact that you have rosacea. 2) Make a conscious decision to find and use everything within your means, to control it and maintain this control. 3) Expect some ups & downs but resolve to overcome these with a positive attitude. 4) Stay with this wonderful support group - you are not alone. 5) Whatever you use to help your rosacea, be sure that you are mindful of how it affects your total health and well being. Re the effects of estrogen on rosacea - I personally do not believe that estrogen, if taken at optimal dose, causes flares. Of course, everyone is different. If I were you, unless there is contraindication in your personal or family history - I will continue with the estrogen but at the same time, work with your internist or GP to titrate your dosage to the minimum level that will keep you comfortable, mentally active etc. By all means, ask about calcium & fosamax as well. Guest guest
Chris: I don't know who told you that estrogen would make rosacea worse, but estrogen definitely makes my rosacea at least 50% better. It's progesterone that can irritate rosacea (and Prempro made my skin really bad), so I use a natural progesterone formulated for me at a clinic on the East Coast, and I have had no problems at all with it. I take Premarin .625 and split it in half, taking 1/2 with breakfast and 1/2 just before bedtime. If I DON " T take my estrogen, my rosacea is really red. With it, just a little red. I tried the patch but it didn't work for me, and my rosacea got bad again. I think that's because the patch only has one of the estrogens in it (Estradial), and I needed all three estrogens, which Premarin has. I think the difference is probably that the right estrogen for you stops the hot flashes which keeps the rosacea under control. Good luck. This menopause thing is the most frustrating thing I've ever been through. I'm still working on it.
Guest guest
Estrogen is not supposed to make rosacea worse. It helps stop a women who is going through menopause from " heating " up. Progesterone (Provera), I just read on the net, is not supposed to be good. estrogen >Since estrogen seems to make rosacea worse, does anyone have any >information about what women with rosacea should do if they are >considering hormone replacement therapy following menopause? > >Chris > > > >-------------------------------------------------------- >Please read the list highlights thoroughly before posting to the whole group. see http://rosacea.ii.net/toc.html > >When replying, please delete all text at the end of your email that isn't necessary for your message. > >To leave the list send an email to rosacea-support-unsubscribeegroups > >
