Guest guest
I have a friend who got it while she was in hospital for meningitis. She almost died from the menengitis, and so was VERY ill with the MRSA. She spent another month or more in hospital...after having already been there for more than a month with the menengitis..and when she got out, she had to have antibiotics by the pint each day. Really, a home health nurse would bring them over and hook them up, then it took about an hour and a half to empty. Her husband would disconnect it. She still ended up back in hospital at least twice more after that for things that happened cos of it. However, bear in mind she had been close to death before she got the MRSA, which made it that much harder to get rid of. She's OK now. When we were allowed to visit, we too had to gown and glove to be in her room. She went through a lot with it. Hopefully your son won't have to go through so much. The antibiotic used is very expensive. I didn't ask what 's bill came to, I would have been afraid to ask!! They did have the same insurance I have, so hopefully they didn't have to pay too much. Guest guest
thank you for your reply. I appreciate it. I'm getting more and more worried about him though as I read and hear more from people. I haven't heard any good stories yet. Thanks again, Marti Caroline Witte wrote: I have a friend who got it while she was in hospital for meningitis. She almost died from the menengitis, and so was VERY ill with the MRSA. Guest guest
Thank you so much . I went to the link and read a good bit about it. He is a med tech in a microbiology lab and what I was reading pretty well confirms that he got it at work. I'm glad he got it while school was out, but now that it's starting back up he won't be able to start back with the kids.(He is also a special ed teacher). I'm wondering how they will know when he should go back. Of course he is still feeling really bad right now. The 2 antibiotics they gave him really knock you out so it will be hard to figure out when he is getting well. They also make pee orange. How strange! Anyway, thank you so much for finding that for me. Take Care, Marti --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your homepage. Guest guest
Hi Tigger, Thanks for your reply. It means a lot to me. I'm praying he will get the rest he needs to let the antibiotics he is taking do their job. I hope he doesn't end of in the hospital. I'm sure he got it while working in the hospital. Take care, Marti Tigger wrote: I had it on my skin and I was quarantined and no one was allowed to touch my wound unless fully gowned and gloved. I had to have a change of bandage every day for awhile and finally it healed. I now put Bag Balm on it every so often. I’ve heard the respiratory type is much more difficult to take care of. My son 30 has just been dx with the respitory type of MRSA. I was wondering if any of you know much about this and it's outcomes. I know what it is. I'm just worried about him and would like to know if anyone has had it or know anyone who has and what their outcome was. In case you don't know, which I didn't, MRSA is Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, which is a virulent strain of Staph that is highly resistant to antibiotics. Mostly people who work in hospitals, or are in hospitals get it, and he works in a hospital.
