Guest guest
Thanks ! I thought it would just be a consult (hahahaha), but after he asked me a bunch of questions in his office, he asked point blank if I had done any reading up on fibro and when I told him yes, he asked what I thought? And I told him I thought I had it. We then went and he did an exam and he stopped with the trigger points around my knees because I was reactive. He said he suspected that the " mono " call made by my PCP in December was actually the start of a fibro flare (which I'm still in, although it seems to be waning somewhat). He gave me Lyrica 75 mg to start 2x a day. I took the first pill last night just before DH took his shower and we hit the bed and I remember NOTHING until this morning! I have done my morning running, etc. and browned up some ground beef and just took the 2nd one, so I may be " checking out " before I get all my emails caught up!!! The downside is I also have bronchitis (Marti, I DON'T think it transmitted thru the internet....lolol) so am feeling crummy from that. So I think lots of fluids and rest is gonna be my personal prescription for the next few days! I'll let DH drive and all that jazz and he'll just have to get over it if I sleep most of Saturday and Sunday away! This too shall pass, right? I have Robaxin and Darvocet and Naproxyn for the break-thru pain. Took the Robaxin until I could take the Lyrica. Other than dry mouth, which I could also attribute to so many of the other meds I'm taking, well, I can't say that I'm having any adverse reactions. Of course, it's only 2 pills.....lolol.....at the lowest dose. So we'll see. , I hope the pain management specialist you are going to see can get you on the correct regimen that will allow you to get beyond the pain somewhat! I think that helps us all if we can manage and control the pain. We think a little better (hah!), act a little bit nicer and can function at some level, even if it's sluggish! Darlene > > > Well praise be to who ever you wana!! I had to wait almost 3 mos. for my rhuemy visit and I was worried that maybe I woundln't respond to his trigger point test but I reacted to 16 out of the 18 points and boy did I jump and jerk when he applied pressure. I know he'll likely want blood work to r/o lupus and ms because that bloodwork is more than 1 yr old from my PCP. Had another painful night - woke up somewhat to take another darvocet. What a hellish life this is! Waiting on my memory foam topper to come in; I think that's going to help a lot. Plan to continue my chiro care and also the reflexology and ion cleanses because they help rid me of toxin build-up. I hate taking all the meds I do - I honestly do. And DH doesn't understand that some afternoons, a 2 hr nap is sufficient to keep me going. I am no longer the pink bunny who can go on and on and on.....I pay for it, sometimes brutally with painful spasms and just general all-over blahness. Ya'll understand.Anyhow, the appt is at 9:30 am eastern so you guys be thinking positive things my way. I want this done with so I can move on in my disability claim!Darlene > > > > > > > _________________________________________________________________ > Climb to the top of the charts! Guest guest
Darlene, how great that you have a good doc. That is one of the most important things that allow us to cope with this. I am glad you did not come across some quack that thinks we are all idiots. I hope the Lyrica works well for you. I have heard many good things about it here. And I do recall that everyone who starts it has a sort of drunk feeling at first. That will let up soon though from what I hear. hugs, Debra V. ddean228 wrote: Thanks ! If I were to ever have another bout of that, I would not be doing any strenous activity. Reminds of senior in high school when I went back to school after three weeks off from bronchitis and intensive tests at a large hospital complex in the midwest. My first day back, the gym teacher told us all to hit the track outside and do XX number of laps --- the minute she realized I was among the other girls running, she SENT me straight back inside!! And then they forced me to drop the PE class for the second semester -- luckily we had a new principal decided that he would create a special class for the 10 or so of us need 1/2 credit to graduate, so, I got to do that instead of the exercise. ---- Think that has anything to do with the fact I don't like to do exercises today??? Guest guest
maybe she meant running errands. Sometimes you can't go to bed when you are sick. I know that the bronchitis I had the three weekends around christmas and new year I still had to get up and come to work after new year even though I coughed my head off up here for a week because no one is allowed to take days off for anything the first ten days of the month. lisa n.
