Guest guest
Hello everyone, I haven’t posted in a while, but I thought this was important enough to share with the group. I was just released from the hospital after a two day stay. It appears that the prednisone (30mg per day) I was taking caused by glucose levels to go up. According to the doctors my levels were the highest they had ever seen on a person still walking around (they were at 1038). For a week and a half I had all the classic symptoms of diabetes (insatiable thirst, frequent urination weight loss, blurry vision and fatigue) I wasn’t feeling very well and made an appointment with my GP. She ordered labs and called me because of the high levels. I went to the ER as she recommended, by that time my sugar levels had peaked over 1000. I was given insulin intravenously and the levels plummeted. I was released from the hospital today and will be giving myself 4 insulin injections daily including insulin pills. .I have an appointment next week with my GT (he’s a good guy) to find out what we can do about the prednisone and next steps. I just wanted you to know how important it is to know the symptoms of diabetes and to let your doctor know if you have a family history. In my case I just feel blessed that I made the appointment with my doctor in time and that both my doctors were on top of this as soon as they were made aware of my situation. “Good Health and Happy Days to all” Ronnie
