My work disability company paid me the full benefit, with the

understanding that when I was eligible for Social Security disability

(what is it - 5 months?) I would apply, and if and when I got it, I

would repay them whatever back benefit from SSA that would have

offset what they gave me.

So I went out on disabililty in June, 2005. I became eligible for

SSDI in December, 2005. I was finally approved and started getting

my benefit June, 2006. I also got the back benefit from Dec. 2005 to

May, 2006, and promptly turned that over to my work disability

company, since they had paid me the full amount for those months.

Your work's company, hopefully, will do the same. Look into it.

And good luck!

BTW, my work disability company also had a department to help with

the social security application and claim if I needed it. I don't

know if they ever talked to social security or not. But because they

were paying me the full benefit at the time, it was in their interest

for me to get approved.

I hope that your company's disability company does the same.

Gosh where did you work? How was it you got it so easily? My work disability

denied me twice and I have to sue them to get them to pay.

Of course I work for the biggest A-hole company on the planet....

I had worked for a very tiny company for 10 years. HR department was

calling up Ed and saying " Hey Ed, I need... " . ;D I was also very

visibly disabled: super morbidly obese, and could barely walk because

of my badly disintegrated knees. The fibro type pain was just one

part of it.

I wrote a letter to my doc, who I've known since the early 90's, and

asked her to help me go on disability. I filled out my part, she

filled out her part, and must have sent in supporting documentation

about a foot thick.

My situation may have been drastically different than most; I don't

know. But if a doctor says you're disabled and can back it up with

documentation, they should accept it.

And there's that danged squirrel after my daffodil bulbs again!!!

Drat! ;D
