Guest guest
Rhonda, it is wonderful that you are a good friend to this woman. We need good friends to keep us going. Alot of people still just refuse to believe this illness is real. I am also a nurse. I have been an R.N. since 1992. I had symptoms for years that I ignored and really had no idea I had fibro until about 5 years ago when it flared horribly. I see this disease from both sides of the bed. I can relate to others with pain in a way I did not use to. I was always compassionate, but I tended to go along with my peers sometimes when people complained of pain... I would suspicion they were drug seeking. I never deprived anyone of pain meds though. However, I now see pain in a whole different light. I would much rather medicate someone for the pain even if there is a chance it is not there. I would rather ere on the side of humanity because I have had a couple of experiences since the dx where I was treated like a drug addict off the street. It is very hurtful. I take hydrocodone 10/660 now. i p.o. q. 8h prn. In the beginning I took tramadol then Darvocet. I am lucky to have a doctor who knows fibro is real. There are not many of them yet. The Hydrocodone allows me to still function as I have a full time job and two young children ages 5 and 10. (my 5 year old was just put in special ed)... that's another story. Anyway, write me anytime. I live in Lufkin, Tx. I work for a small nursing home now. It is the lesser of the stress options. LOL. I just can't do hospital stress anymore. I am 43 and the fibro hit me hard the last few years. Please keep in touch. Ask me anything anytime. The group is wonderful here. You will find a snide comment here and there from people who usually don't stay around or are reprimanded for being totally rude to someone. For the most part, it is a caring and compassionate group of people who have helped me tremendously since I joined well over a year ago. Take care, My heart is with you and your friend, Debra V. --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your homepage.
