Guest guest
Debra, that sounds like what happened to me each time one of my shoulders became frozen. You could got the route my cheapskate cousin (with great insurance, no less!) and get a pulley system to screw into a ceiling that would be easy to get to or as his brother, sister and I all did, go for physical therapy. My right one still did not have a good range of motion after the ordered period of PT so the doctor did an out patient procedure on me (I found out later that day after discharge that he had called my husband to let him know how it had gone, that he simply moved the arm as far back as he could to break up what ever it is that causes that! gross sounding!) I will say that was in about 1997 and here it is 2008 and I still have very good range of motion in that shoulder. The left one does not go back in an exact circle but I can rotate it. I really did wonder if it was an inherited condition since at least four of we cousins have had it and I also did hear that my youngest sister whom I do not communicate with also had " surgery " on one of her shoulders. I really didn't learn much about what lead to her surgery from the other sister, but I am assuming she had the same thing! If that's what it is, you get exercises --- one's fun -- take a cloth and clean a wall in the therapy center -- no, you really aren't cleaning, that's a joke the therapist told me as they do have you using a clothe to reach as high up on a wall as you can and you are constantly trying to increase the height. > > My right shoulder has been in constant pain now for about 2 months. It seems as if it is actaully swollen. It hurts around the area of the collar bone and the upper back. It has a huge knot. It hurts to lift my arm and it has lost alot of range of motion. > I have taken a medrol dose pack before for this. It seemed to help for a while. Guess I will ask for one at my next appt. > > So.... if fibromyalgia is not considered an " inflammatory " disease, then why do steroids help at all? > > hugs, > Debra V. > > > --------------------------------- > Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Guest guest
Hi Debra, Sorry you are in such pain now. Hope you do get a medrol dose pack for it. Steroid packs will help reduce swelling. In the future maybe should get a MRI to make sure you don't have torn tendons or anything like that. In the meantime keep some ice on it to slow the swelling. soft hugs, Debbie J > > My right shoulder has been in constant pain now for about 2 months. It seems as if it is actaully swollen.
