Guest guest
Okay ya'll are just plain weird. You have to recall that I lived in Iowa for about 16 to 18 years so do know that food. I make great Meatloaf, scratch cakes, 7layer salad, chicken salad, pot roast with horseradish spread all over it from start and browned like that.....so good.......am not able to eat things that can see what was, like bringing me a lobster...yucky. I love fresh corn on cob, eat at least 6 to 8 ears at a time, Mexican food is great, not big on food from Italy, like sandwiches also and baked potato with peas or salad or corn, don't need meat with it. Lately have wanted Pizza allot and not like me as though liked it would just eat 1 slice now eating 2 or more and perhaps it is the Cortisone in me these last 3 weeks...as last night ate 20 large cookies along with my apple. Well that is main thing about food at least at this time of morning. Guest guest
Joann and All, Was thinking about this last night and please let me know what you all think! Boy do I sound like a southerner! Why don't we exchange our favorite recipes! Each month we could say that October will be for Deserts. Everyone that wants to participate can give there favorite desert recipe! I was thinking that it is something different and would be fun, because we all sound like we enjoy food and would love to try some southern dishes. Just reading about Joanns pot roast is making me drool, because that is one of my favorite foods! It would also be fun to see what each other thinks about another's taste! I for one cannot wait to get Donna's recipe for cauliflower, cheese, mashed potatoes! Told Momma about them and she said UMM, UMM, GOOD!!!!! Well let me know if you think it is a good idea! Just a thought to keep our minds off of the illness all the time! Take Care and Will Talk Later! I am going to call my neurologist now and see if any of the test results came back yet! I know that he goes into the hospital every day and Mom found out yesterday that he used to be the Chief of Staff of the Hospital! So I want to check in and see if he knows what is going on yet. Will let you all know! LOL and Happiness Always! Dawn JoAnn & Russ Ford wrote: Okay ya'll are just plain weird. You have to recall that I lived in Iowa for about 16 to 18 years so do know that food. Guest guest
First off woman, why are you up???? Did your earlier email not say after taking care of pets going back to bed, to sleep or rest? So your up and I thought you were resting.......get body into bed Dawn. I think the exchange on recipes would be fun also Dawn. I have to say do not of many as cooking is not my enjoyable fun for a day. Not sure why but just like to eat it and not mess with cooking of it. I cook only due to Russ and body get craving for certain foods. So if anyone else agrees lets just write our favorite recipes and send it to digest. Can be desserts or could also for this time of year, could be Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays ...what we cook most of. Look forward to hearing from you Dawn. You know was so concerned for you yesterday, oh so darn concerned. Please get some rest , please. Am so tired must close......hugs JoAnn Re: Re: YANKEE FRIENDS!!!!!! o-yes Ihave to agree about new england clam chowder... chocolate chip cookies and waffles.. Told Momma about them and she said UMM, UMM, GOOD!!!!! Dawn The recipe is very easy actually. You can use either frozen or fresh, whichever you prefer. Boil the cauliflower until it is soft enough to mash. Drain out the excess water and mash like you would for mashed potatoes. Add butter (or margarine) crushed garlic or in a pinch garlic salt along with salt and pepper per taste preference. Take shredded cheese (the cheezier the better) and blend in with the cauliflower. Serve nice and hot. Well let me know if you think it is a good idea! Just a thought to keep our minds off of the illness all the time! Sounds like a great idea. I agree so many people have been discussing foods from the North and South that I've certainly gained weight just reading LOL Take Care and Will Talk Later! Guest guest
Sounds good and worth trying. I also like the idea of posting recipes (Could we mark them as such ing the subject line?) Re weight issues, the one positive side of this lovely little SAME/myositis thingy is that since being pulled gradually from some of the meds I have lost 7.8 pounds in 11 (?) days. No complaints about that part. Heck, we haven't even gotten me totally off the culprit meds yet. Also, as of today I will go to half-days at work until I see the doc again on the 21st and "re-evaluate" again at that point. ALl of the med changes plus the addition of the new ones is making me and my body a bit whacko...Okay, not whacko just pretty amazed that I still have a pulse. My best to everyone here and I apologize (it's not an S word) for my not being as "visibly" involved here of late. I'm reading all of the posts just kinda feeling too punk to respond. Guest guest
Now ya'll are not playing fair at all. I make great waffles from scratch and pot roast, even good meatloaf which took awhile until figured out best thing to do that we would like. Also, kids and I would make chocolate cookies all the time but ate more raw dough than made cookies. Oh love raw cookie dough. And Avocado dip, broccoli casserole, potato's, spinach dip, and lately on a binge of deli honey roasted ham sandwiches. I get on binges like this and eat same thing day after day. Bought stuff to make the oreo smuch tomorrow. Have to have it, good caramel and hot fudge over ice cream, oreos and coolwhip on top and then more caramel and hot fudge and oreo's. YUMMY oh and walnuts on top also. Oh well enough.....just know that will not get me eating chowder as clams are not going into my mouth, nor oysters, lobster....had squid with Russ once...got it down as was fried but a tad chewy...yucky. Need to get into bed...so if anyone wrote me today know that have only gotten few emails looked at so not being rude, just not on here today. Many hugs and all take care of yourselves please....Barbara, please try and rest, so sorry my friend of all the struggles you have gone through these past months. I know it is so hard with life turning somewhat upside down and cross-ways lately...hard to deal with plans going down clogged up drain which is good just that perhaps can pull some of the plans out of that clogged drain. Pam sorry my friend all going on with family. Know it is so painful for you. And Carla, how are you doing? Miss talking with you and am looking forward to perhaps visiting via phone. Tricia how are you doing? Know you have been hurting so much and hope to call this week can you write me with good time and day this week please. Donna, please take care and hope that your able to get the SCS soon so that the holidays will be less painful for you. Well gotta get out of chair so again take care all and Dawn get into bed and off this computer, PLEASE. Guest guest
Ginny - I'm glad that I'm able to at least still work some. The folks at work are being almost too nice about it....scary. The doc is clear that we are beyond the "possible" stage, While the news is crappy, I'm coping and hopeful that maybe even the time will come that I will feel better than before. The weight loss, a silver lining, has soften the edge of all of this. I will focus on that. Gotta find the bright side.
